Why oh why?
Bear with me, this is a vent!
So my 2 cousins are visiting from the Caribbean. We used to be very close growing up but recently had some conflict where we didnt speak for 6 months and I reached out an olive branch to them this past Easter. So now we are speaking again and they are in NYC (staying with one of their in laws).
Anyhoo, one of them springs this on me: she is pregnant (6months) and wants to stay up here to have the baby and wants to know if she can stay with me. WTF???I haven't even moved into my own freaking home!!
First of all, how do you ask this on our first meeting (on Saturday). 2nd of all, what would she have done if I hadnt reached out? 3rd, she didnt even tell me she was pregnant! She just said that she had a surprise...which I deduced when I saw her. 4th, what is wrong with having the baby back in the Caribbean??
I didnt respond when she mentioned this...just kept the convo going but I know they will pester me again. It's gonna be a NO, anyway you slice it.

that's crazy. and then when she has the baby, it's not like she can just jump on the plane and go back to the Caribbean. What is her reasoning behind this?

Nova, we get very generous vacation/maternity leave in the Caribbean. She has 6 months off and a visa stay of 6 months...so she could have the baby and still stay up here for 2 + months.
I am so tired of people putting me on the spot like that...I kinda knew that having the house was gonna make it worse but just not so soon, jeez!
