When can I no longer fly?

The travel bug has hit... as it normally does once I have been grounded for too long... not sure if we will go anywhere, but if I were to fly somewhere for a few days.. .what's my cut off? Naturally I'll consult with the Dr before hand, but thought you ladies might know the guidelines

Re: When can I no longer fly?

  • I think its after 30 weeks or so...

  • I've heard that some doctors say not after 28 weeks, others say 30 - 34 weeks.

Airlines also have their own cut-offs which you might want to look into as well.

  • I've been wondering this too! We definitely want to do one more big trip before baby arrives. I'm thinking Sept/Oct for us. I will have to look in to it to make sure I don't plan it for some time too late!

Where are you thinking of going Sarah?

  • My SIL was not allowed to fly after 30w. So she had to drive everywhere for work...yah that is better right? Huh?
  • I didn't know that airlines had rules too.. I'll look into that.. I'm not sure where we would go, but knowing I have a timeline will help me decide if we have the time or not... fearing not as 30w is coming up soon and we are booked for the summer! Maybe a driving trip will be in order...
  • You could drive down to the Keys or to South Carolina.
  • Air Canada was 36 weeks when I flew at Christmas.

  • AC's limit is 36w, and my OB has cleared me to fly to Germany. He's also offered to write a note, assuring them that I'm under 36w (since I'll be extra-huge looking - I already am).
