I just finished watching the first season and have decided to read the series. Has anyone read the books? Just wondering your opinion as I am about to commit to a 10 book series.

My H is reading them and really enjoys them. He's been bugging me to start reading them as well. I read the Twilight Saga so I didn't really want to start another vampire series, but I think I will. He likes them better than Twilight and he prefers Sookie over Bella but I think it's probably because they're more adult nature.

I watched the first episode when it came out and didn't really like it... I have heard great things though! I would be interested to read the books... let me know what you think about them if you read them! I love me some Twilight, so I may really like them.... ? :-)

I just started the 1st book- no Tara & Lafayette! i miss them-LOL. Other than that its pretty good so far.

I started the third book yesterday and I am almost done with it - so far I like them. I have enjoyed them much better than the Twilight books. You are welcome to my first three books if you would like!

I've watched the series but never read the books.

I will say that I watched the whole first season On Demand after finishing twilight, and it took me until almost the end of Season 1 to like it. The first half felt like I was watching late-night cinemax! Sooooooo much about sex. Toward the end of Season 1 and into Season 2 there's a little more good story, I'm really liking it now!

I have heard that Tara and Lafayette don't make an appearance until book 3. And that Tara is white (is Lafayette white too?), that just isn't right to me. I also heard that Eric becomes a bigger character which I am soooo excited about!!

The first few episodes were hard to get into because of the sex. It was like watching porn compared to the Twilight series. Indifferent

I am reading the series too. I am also on the third book. Personally I dont think that they even compare to Twilight. Then again, I am a big nerd and LOVED twilight. The Sookie Stackhouse series has been hard for me to get into, but it is starting to grow on me. The books are much better than the show, I think. Lafayette is black in the book but doesnt have nearly as big of a part. Which is one part of the show that I like better than the book. Jason is also very different in the book. I finally got into the tv series after the the season 1 finale. I agree that it is almost just too raunchy! I hope you like them. My BIL introduced me to them. He has read all of the books and loves them.
