Re: Sangria Recipe

  • I've made this 3 times and the punch bowl is always empty early (I double the batch) so I figure it's a keeper.

    INGREDIENTS:
1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
    1 Lemon cut into wedges
    1 Orange cut into wedges
    1 Lime cut into wedges
    2 Tbsp sugar
    Splash of orange juice
    2 Shots of gin
1 Cup of sliced strawberries or raspberries (may use thawed or frozen)
1 Small can of diced pineapples (with juice)
    4 Cups ginger ale

    PREPARATION:
Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and pineapple then add sugar, orange juice and gin.

Chill overnight. Add ginger ale, berries and ice just before serving. If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice. However, remember that the best Sangrias are chilled around 24 hours in the frig. - allowing the flavors to really marinate into each other.

  • 750 mL bottle of white wine - I like Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay

2 cups of white grape juice or white cranberry juice

    ? cup of triple sec

A couple shots of peach schnapps

Sliced summer fruit of your choice - really good summer peaches, blackberries and raspberries are really pretty with this

Combine all indredients and chill overnight

  • We made a super white sangria last weekend:

soak rasberries, blackberries & blueberries in bacardi & strawberry bacardi for a couple of days

add 3 bottles of cheap sauv blanc

cut up lemons, limes, peaches, and add grapes to mixture

add 1 2L bottle of 7-up or sprite

    add sugar to taste.

we made a huge container and it was gone in no time.

  • Peach Sangria:

4 cups pureed or cut up peaches

    2 bottles pinot grigio

    4 cups peach scnapps

add white rum if you're feelin' frisky

    Regular Sangria:

    2 bottles red wine

    2 cups Brandy

    3/4 cup Triple Sec

1/2 cup simple syrup (I use 1/4 cup though)

    1 cup orange juice

    1-2 apples chopped

    1 orange chopped

    grapes

  • Woohoo!! Thanks! I'm excited to make some this weekend. :)
  • found starlily's on her blog:

    • 1 bottle red wine (preferably a beaujolais)
    • 1 orange
    • 1 lemon
    • 1 cup of sugar
    • assorted fruits (I always use red grapes and strawberries)
    • 1-2 ounces of brandy (optional)
    1. In a large non-metal bowl, mix the wines together, along with the cup of sugar. Stir for a few minutes.
    2. Slice the orange and lemon into thin slices (1/8 - 1/4 of an inch). Add to the wine and stir.
    3. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
    4. In the morning, add in your other fruits and the brandy. Stir again, pour into a pitcher and chill until it's time to party!

[i need it for me, too...i'm not that super nice.]
