Girls who did 30D Shred...
So how was it? I never got the reviews about how it all was in the end.
I am really searching for a way to motivate myself to exercise. I get so jealous sometimes that he had something that he loves that gets him good exercise. I am the kind of person that gets frustrated with not seeing results right away and then gets bored with it because of that. Means I tend not to stick with anything. DH rides his bike to work and loves it.
Re: Girls who did 30D Shred...
It was really good while I was doing it. I definitely saw 'some' results, but I think i'm the same as you - i really like to see results right away. I was pretty consistent up through level 2 - never made it to level 3. now, i'm thinking of getting back to the pool (which supposedly is finally reopened after repairs) to start swimming again.
Honestly, I think its better to switch it up and do different things (walking, running, swimming, biking, playing sports, yoga, strength training). whatever - as long as you are active. its also better to switch it up so your body doesn't 'get used' to a certain workout (like running for 30min every day).
good luck - i'm right there with you in getting bored easily.
I did all 30 days, even did a few level 3's at the end....but I agree that it is better to switch it up and use the 30ds as a supplement to your workouts, rather than just the only workout, for a few reasons.
First, the inevitable boredom - it's all fun an new at the beginning, but after a few days of doing the same level, it get boring! I made a game out of trying to recite everything Jillian was saying along with her.
The other reason I don't think it should be the only thing you do is because I don't think there is enough cardio to get you to really slim down. I gained a friggen inch on each of my arms. An inch!! But didn't loose a single inch anywhere else. And my arms, while bigger, did not look toned - because there was still a layer of fat over the newly-formed muscles. So, maybe it's because I already do a lot of cardio with my dancing, but i found that the strength portion was helping me bulk up, but the cardio portion was certainly not enough to help me slim down.
I still really like the videos, and will do them to supplement my other activities, but I am not a believer in the miracle of doing it every day for 30 days...
I am still trying to get through it. I am on level 2. I took a 2 week break due to sickness and travel. But now I am back on the bandwagon. After 14 days doing the shred I lost 6 pounds. People commented on my weight loss and my clothes got bigger. I went down 1 size. I also lost inches on my waist and thighs.
I agree that there is that level of boredom but since my sked is tight. 20 minutes give or take is the perfect length for the workout. Once I complete it, I will probably do something else. I also found that I still lost 1 pound while I was on the "break" from the workout. I think my metabolism kicked in.
For a nondancer and pretty much desk dweller, I felt the cardio was enough to actually lose weight. The 30 ds was the only exercise I was doing.
Incidentally, I saw results after 1 week.
I see that the 30DS levels 1 and 2 are on Exercise on Demand. I'm going to try it out. Actually, I watched the whole first level while remaining seated on the couch. Yes, I really did.
