On The Border Catering

Has anyone used On The Border for catering before?

Experience?

Also, their website says that catering "may" include dishes and linens.  Does that mean it varies by location.  Or you have the option of chosing if you want that provided:

Re: On The Border Catering

  • I recently contacted one in Fort Worth when I was shopping around for catering and the person I spoke with at that location said the cost of the catering included paper plates and utensils.  This was for the fajita buffet menu with people serving it to the guests.  If you're wanting actual plates and linens, I think that would be an extra charge, but I didn't ask that since I just wanted disposable products.
  • We used them for our wedding and had a great experience.  The person I spoke with said we could get a quote including plates and linens, but that they basically just rent them from somewhere and upcharge you, so it was better to get that on your own if you really wanted it.  We booked them 8 months in advance and when I contacted them to give a final headcount before the wedding they were very thorough to make sure everything on the original quote was still what I needed.  We will use them again when we have a larger party at our house.
  • thanks for your reviews, girls!
  • I've used them countless times for work, and I've been pleased every single time. I normally just call the 800 number and they send the order out to the nearest location. We just order drop off (includes paper plates/utensils), so I'm not sure about the dishes/linens.

  • For "drop-offs"/no setup, the price includes paper napkins/plates and plasticware.  Food is a foil full or half foil pans.

For set-up/retrieve, there is a charge for the caterer to setup the table w/ table decor and chafer dishes.  Same paper/plastic wear is used. When I was a catering for OTB, the charge was $75 min or 20% of the food amount, the greater of the two...Gratuity for the caterer.

For full serve, same as above, only a caterer remains on site to serve your guests.  20% of total food amount for gratuity or a minimum labor fee, the greater of the two.

This was the prices about 4yrs ago...

  • I use them for work sometimes.  It is a min order of 100 bucks.  They do provide plates/napkins/and silverware.  There is a 20 tip added to all orders, plus they give you the chance to add more if you want.  The pricing is not bad, and you do get a lot of food.  When they arrive, the driver will set everything up for you.  For catering, they are one of my faves because of the ease of it all.
