  I wish I would have had one.  (A My Brest Friend in particular.) 

  I brought 2 regular pillows, thank goodness....  And we were pretty close to a linen closet, so DH raided it for me from time to time.  I put rolled up blankets behind me and around me. 
  

  I had a small suitcase (the one I use as a carry on for flights) this contained stuff for labour, post partum, and for my baby, plus a Costco shopping bag with the pillows, and DH had a little backpack with snacks and a change of clothes.  It wasn't a big deal.  

  You want to be comfortable!  Especially when nursing after a tough L&D.

  I just used a regular hospital pillow and it was fine. I actually never used the nursing pillow at home for nursing. I found that it wasn't necessary with DD. Instead I used it to sit on post delivery as my lady bits hurt and it was hard to sit anywhere.

  I don't think it's necessary.  With DS I just used the regular hospital pillows and it worked great.

  Well, our in-hospital breastfeeding was an epic fail... I didn't have my nursing pillow along, but I didn't miss it. I won't take it this time, either. Besides, looking back, I don't think I'd want it to get all germy. (My room was cleaned only right after delivery, and even then there was still blood on the floor. We were there three nights, and it was never completely cleaned up.)

  I didn't have one with me... and didn't find it necessary. compared to when baby gets heavier, a newborn is pretty small and light, it didn't take much to hold baby in place with the pillows they had there.

  but I second having the My Brest Friend. I tried many different shaped pillows, and this one is my favourite.
