Re: Flame Free Friday!
Seriously? A Mickey Mouse lunchbox?
Well since sam started out with Mickey I am just going to say it......
I do not understand grown women wearing Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore tshirts. I just don't get it. If you are at Disney World, Disney Land then fine - if you are at a party with children then fine.
But to work, shopping, the grocery store, going out to eat?? I don't understand. I know, I know everyone can wear what they want but I just don't get it - not drinking that kool aid I guess
Well, some people never grow up I guess.
I personally do not do characters...on clothing or anywhere else. I shudder to think about someday having a baby and people giving me items with Winnie the Pooh on them for the baby room. I like elegant more contemporary fabrics for those purposes.
Don't get me wrong, if my child loves Winnie or Barney or whatever character, they can wear them, but I don't plan to decorate with them for an infant. If said child wants that in the room when they are old enough to express an opinion, then I'll work with that when the time comes.
And while I am on my soap box here - why don't people know their social etiquette anymore? And for that matter what happened to business etiquette?
To clarify - I had to drop by my doctor's office this morning to pick up a refund check and the girl behind the counter was very, very rude. She refused to greet me (um, hello I am the patient, AKA the customer) and she refused to answer me when spoken to. She just got up from her computer and handed me my check. I wasn't being rude or rushing her or anything, I wasn't using a mean voice, I was being super sweet and everything.
She ticked me off
Speaking of this. We went out to eat at a sushi place near our house last Monday. We had to wait for the hostess to finish texting before she said hello, how many. I thought that was crazy. Put your phone down for two seconds. You are at work where people rely on you to seat them.
* I found an awesome pottery barn light fixture that was perfect for my dining room for $50 on ebay.... it got lost in the mail soooo now my quest for the perfect decently priced oil rubbed bronze fixture begins again....at least I got my refund.
* Wildly inconsistant behavior drives me bonkers...
* Some people are way to nosey...
I got the same service yesterday at Half Price Books. I brought some in to sell, which took about 25 minutes longer than she said it would take, which was awesome since I had my 11 month old twins with me. Then when I went to check out, I had to ask they guy "are you open." He said yes and that was the last thing he said. Nothing else!! Didn't mention totals, how much I was getting back in change, bye, anything. Nice. Makes me want to go back there really soon....
I am so over bad customer service and the push for store employees to open credit cards. Last week I went to Old Navy and they have a special needs guy that is following people around trying to get people to open credit cards....totally not trying to be rude but he seriously followed me around for 10 minutes and then stood outside the dressing room door, which made me super uncomfortable. Then as I am checking out, they let 3, yes 3 people cut in front of me because they wanted to apply for cards. I ask for a manager, they can't find one, I finally check out and get home and one of the items isn't in my bag. I call and tell the manager about my experiance and she hangs up on my 3 times (seriously, I am being nice but by the 3rd time I lost it), call 1-800-Old Navy, they call the store and get me my dress but I never got an apology, even when I asked a district manager to call me!
Seriously, I will never spend another dime there.
Sorry for the saga but I am still pissed about it!
What a disaster! They let people cut you to open a cc?! That's insane.
That's crazy. I would have complained really loudly to make the people who were allowed to cut feel like a$$holes for doing it since the employees apparently were OK with it.
I am so tired of cold calls from sales people in various fields trying to drum up business. I know that business is slow for lots of people, but in the past week I have gotten 6 or 7 calls from a car dealership I did business with in 2004 -- and each time it's a different person. And each time I tell them I don't even live in that state anymore and I'm not interested to remove me from their call list (I still have the same cell number, so they're using it).
So annoying.
Completely understand ... I don't dress my 6 mth old in characters either. We received a couple of Winnie the Pooh outfits as gifts which I did put him in; however I don't purchase them myself.
Speaking of Mickey ... there's a lady at work that has a long coat that looks like leopard print from afar. Once you get closer, it's Mickey. To each their own.
Oh I I am excited to join in on the fun today!
*I agree with adults and wearing character shirts anywhere in public (I have no opinion if they are lounging in their own home in them). I actually hate that so many baby clothes (especially boy clothes) have some character on them. I have seen really cute clothes that are completely ruined because they have Winnie the Pooh on them. And the lady with the Mickey Mouse lunchbox also annoys me, we have an older lady at work that has some lunch box that you would expect a kid going to elementary school to carry. It annoys me everytime I see her.
* And I also hate bad customer service! I think if you are working directly with customers/patients you should not be able to have a cell phone with you. I had a dr's appt last week and I got there and signed in and the girl at the desk was on the phone, obviously a personal call (she was talking about missing out on going out the night before). When she finally hung up she said my name and told me that my dr was in surgery and that it would be about an hour so I could either wait or reschedule. When I asked if there was anything else I could do she said nope you can reschedule though. I told her that wasn't ok because I had to take off work to go to the appt and while I understood that my dr was in surgery (this was my first OB visit, and yes I know sometimes they have to deliver a baby or do emergency surgery) that there had to be something else I could do. The nurse heard me and told the girl that there was no reason I couldn't have my vitals taken and go do my lab work and talk with the on call nurse (all things that would normally be done after my appt, but still part of this.) I graciously thanked the nurse. The girl didn't even bother saying anything to me when I had to check out with her. Rude.
These are some good ones---and some peeves of mine as well!!!
1. The texting while at work----I never do that in front of people, only on break. Kids all over are texting in between ringing me up at the register, taking my order, etc...SO RUDE!!!!!
2. The store credit card....HELLO, hasn't Old Navy heard that we are in a credit crunch and people DO NOT need to be opening new credit cards IMO. Not cool at all esp to let people cut in front of you bc they were getting one.
On my own rant, I am sick of grown-ups lying and acting like things aren't their fault. When you are a kid that's one thing, but freakin' take responsibility for your actions and own up to it if you did it.
Spinning off of bad customer service-
I get really really annoyed when I'm trying to help a customer and they are talking away on their cell phone and ignoring me. I don't understand why people think I want to hear all of their personal business. Put the phone down for a minute or two - I promise I'll be able to help you A LOT faster.
I usually try to be very patient with people working in customer service related fields....but when I was joining my gym, I had an appointment with the manager to take a tour and he had to leave so this other guy gave me the tour. During the tour he was just kinda goofy but we didn't really care so much. at the end of the tour after we decided to join and were doing paper work he says "do you guys mind if I make a call really quick" he then calls his boss in front of us and says "hey I am with the people that are joining today and I am totally taking your commission! haha naw man just kidding, but i did want to tell you that you spelled jacque's name wrong dude"
I just thought that could have waited until after we were done.
Hahahaha I work in an advertising agency. You should SEE some of the toys in people's cubes.
Whatever gets you through the day I guess!
