Re: woohoo booked Vegas trip!

  • Awesome!  Where are you staying?  Have you been there before?  DH and I got married in Vegas so it is like our second home:-)
  • never been! we're staying at a classic - the Flamingo!
  • Ohhh have so much fun, I went in May and it was great. Take lots of pics :)

That is a great choice.  Even though it's an older hotel, they have an awesome pool and their location on the Strip is really central.  If you want some discount show tickets, make sure to check out "Tix 4 2nite" ticket booth.  There is one located right in the giant Coke bottle( trust me, you can't miss it!)

If you want some restaurant or attractions info, JLMK and I'd be happy to share my info.

Thanks for the tips! I'd love some restaurant ideas - maybe not outrageously priced but tasty.. any ideas? Tips for breakfast would be good too. Also any idea what casinos might have Hearts?

  • Awesome! You are going to have a fantastic time!! I'm going with a friend of mine at the end of September, think we'll be booking it this week. Staying at Bally's I think can't wait! DH and I went in 2003 (we actually got engaged there) and saw Zumanity, it was fantastic!

  • Have fun!

I've been to Vegas 5 times. Never stayed at the Flamingo, but I always visit it. They used to have live pengins in the back and I loved watching them!

Both Zumanity and Love are good shows, although my parents saw O and were absolutely amazed by it.

There are a million amazing restaurants in Vegas. For breakfast, I'd recommend the little Mexican place in the Passage shops in Planet Hollywood (former Aladdin). It's a full breakfast (not Mexican food) and I think it's only like $3. Great deal. I also love the Caesar's Palace buffet for breakfast. For dinner try Kahunaville in TI - it's not a fancy place, but the food is good and it's a neat place. If you want fancy, try Bellagio - Le Cirque. Mmmm, but pricey.

    Have fun!

  • Here are 3 some of my favorite restaurants that are reasonably priced:

    Grand Lux- Venetian

Maggiano's- Fashion Show Mall (right next to TI)

Mon Ami Gabi- Paris( ask for a patio seat and you'll have a perfect view of the Bellagio fountains)

Cafe Il St Louis- Paris (breakfast)

Kahunaville- TI ( great place for lunch)

Delmonico's- Venetian( best steak dinner ever but it's an Emeril restaurant so a bit pricey)

Also, for magic shows,  The Mac King afternoon show at Harrah's is awesome and not over priced.  We've seen it 3 times and still find it entertaining.  Lance Burton and Penn and Teller are excellent too.  DO NOT waste your money on David Copperfield.  We saw him last September and it was not worth the money we paid.

I have never seen Hearts played at any of the casinos on the Strip. I'm not sure if they play it downtown???

  • Cool!

My friend just got back and had a blast.

Bet you'll have a great time!!!

  • thanks for the tips!!!! can't wait
  • We went in 2007 and loved it - we are still planning on going back.  We actually had a fabulous dinner at the Flamingo, but I can't find the restaurant on their website so I wonder if it's been replaced as they have a bunch of new restaurants now...

Bobby Flay's Mesa is in Ceasar's palace and was super good too.

You'll have a great time, I found Vegas to be an amazing experience even if you don't gamble - just being there is really neat. If you have time, be sure to go to downtown Las Vegas.

  • I love Vegas! You are going to have a great time. Do you have enough time to venture outside of town to Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire and Red Rock Canyon?

We weren't really planning on it - what is there to see downtown? :)

  • More casinos really... but's the Old Las Vegas and at night they have a street festival (which I can't remember the name of) which is fun. I'm a CSI fan so going there was neat b/c that's where they shoot the show, and where it's primarily based - a few friends have even seen them taping while there.

It's just a change of pace to see what was LV to what is now LV! And I second Jen's reccomendation of the Hoover Dam - it's not that far from LV. Although it's hard when you only have so many days, we only saw it b/c we were drving in from AZ.

  • Awesome!! Have a great time. I'd like to make it out there one day.
