Stretch mark cream = gross

I broke down and bought stretch mark cream on the weekend.  It's nasty and smells like pickles.  I'm sure it doesn't really smell like pickles, but to my sensitive sniffer, it does.  It's so bad I can't use it.

I know creams really do nothing, but I'm desperate.  I've already got some and I just know it's going to be bad.  I get them very easily, unfortunatley - got them from my lap surgery a couple years ago and even got them on my foot when I tore a bunch of ligaments and it was hugely swollen.  Crying

  • Pickles? lol That's funny. Last week, my fingers smelled like pennies!

Have you tried Vitamin E oil or creme? I've heard that works pretty good.

  • Try BioOil and also Body Shop's Cocoa Butter body butter....both have been working for me!
  • The stuff we bought when we were shopping? I didn't notice any smell yesterday - you must have one serious sniffer there! If I run out I'll buy that bottle off of you so it doesn't go to waste!

You can have it!  Dave can't smell it either.  I'm really sensitive to smells right now.  I dry heaved walking past the CEO's office last week cause there was some bad fish/cabbage like smell wafting out of the lunchroom.

  • I've heard that baby oil does the trick too...although nothing worked for me, so I can't really suggest anything.

  • There is no cream that will prevent stretch marks.  Nothing can go deep enough into the skin.

Get a nice lotion to keep your belly hydrated, though.  All that stretching makes things dry and itchy.

I got some purple tiger stripes on the underside of my belly the last few weeks of pregnancy.  2 years later they're silver and I don't notice them at all.   They're my badges of honour.  ;)

  • last time I just used St. IVes Collogen / Elastin creme, and I only got a few stretch marks. this time I use that, and Bio Oil. Nothing is working... my stretch marks are really noticable. we'll see how well they go away after baby comes.
