I tried getting info from BOTB but they weren't very nice/helpful so maybe someone here can enlighten me.
Basically, I got married just over 3 weeks ago and took my last BCP on June 20th. We're not actively TTC just yet, but I wanted to try and get my cycle on track over the next couple months. As newlyweds, we've definitely indulged in quite a bit of sex over the last few weeks (mostly because I figured I couldn't get pregnant until I had an actual period).
Over the last week, I've been feeling pretty yucky - crampy, sick to my stomach and generally tired. I don't think I'm pregnant (I assume my body is pretty angry over having to have a real period) but is it possible that I was ovulating either through my BCP or in the last week or so? I know I've had cervical mucus from time to time but I didn't expect to ovulate since, I thought it would take a while to get ovulation back on track. Any insights would be much appreciated! TIA
Re: Don't know where to ask this but...
I think it's possible that you have ovulated since you took the pill. It's too early to test, but keep track of the symptoms and when you get a little over the 28 days (since you were on BCP, I assuming you had a standard cycle) then test if AF isn't there.
You could also be right and those feeling are justyour body reacting to not having the chemicals to regulate everything.
I'm no real expert on this, but some ladies here know a lot about this stuff.
BOTB tends to be a mean board. What you are feelign could be your body regulating. When I went of BCP my period came around the same time as on BCP. I would suggest not worrying yet...take a test around day 28-29. You can get cheap ones at the dollar store.
Also, pick up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility...it is very informative about how your cycle works. Even if you aren't planning on charting, I bet you will learn lots! HTH/
Okay period on the 24th would mean that was Day 1 of your cycle. So you are still really early in your cycle for testing but that doesn't mean that you didn't ovulate. You can ovulate your first cycle off of the pill.
Lots of people still ovulate on the pill. My niece and soon to be born other niece are examples of that!
It wouldn't matter if you ovulated on the pill though since you had your period after you finished taking the pill.
Still way too early for symptoms that could only be attributed to pregnancy. Your hormones are bouncing around trying to regulate themselves post-pill. That will make you feel funky. Also thinking you could possibly be pregnant makes a girl hypersensitive. Every yawn and stomach gurgle you'd normally ignore is now analyzed. Drives even the best of us insane at first.
If you don't get your period by the end of the month I'd test. Probably the 25th at the very earliest.
Fertility Friend has a great tutorial if you want to start charting cervical fluid and basal body temps to see when you ovulate. The book others mentioned is good, but it's long. The FF tutorial cuts right to the chase and doesn't have a bunch of info not applicable to you right now.
GL!
If you ovulated this current cycle that you're on then you wouldn't have "ovulated on the pill" since you haven't been taking the pill this cycle. It's definitely possible that you ovulated this cycle and could be pregnant, but it's too early to test. Count ~28-30 days from the first day of your last period and if you haven't gotten your period by then, go ahead and test. I also recommend that you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility, it's got loads of information in it and is useful even if you decide not to chart.
Mom, why are you washing my feed in the sink?!
When I went off the pill, my body was crazy out of whack. I had all kind of symptoms and my period (after the one from the pill pack) was almost a week late. My body had been on that pill for 6 years or so and probably needed a reminder - "HEY YOU! FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF!" and that's why it took so long.
The periods after that were more or less around 28 days (I think 29, 32).
I got pregnant my fourth cycle off BCP.
