symptoms before POAS?

Let me start by saying I am not charting. I went off BC about 6 weeks ago and have not yet had AF.

I have POAS several times in the last couple of weeks. Because I haven't had AF yet I'm just not sure what my body is doing!

Today I have bad lower back pain and my stomach is sore to the touch. I just feel weird. I POAS today and it was a BFN.

My questions to you, so I don't continue wasting sticks, is what were your pre-POAS symptoms?  What made you POAS?

Re: symptoms before POAS?

  • What made me POAS was the fact that I was 5 days late. I had come off the pill about 6 months earlier and had 28 day cycles immediately. Being late was very unusual.

After I got my BFP I realized I'd been having symptoms - I was extremely sensitive to smells, I woke up nauseous a few mornings and I was very tired.

I promised myself when we started TTC that I would not test unless my period was late. I didn't want to drive myself or DH crazy with testing every five minutes. I had a few "maybe...." months but that was the only time my period was late.

    Good luck.

  • I had no symptoms with either pg,  The only reason I tested was b/c I was 1 day late.

  • I tested just because I was late. I didn't have any symptoms that I recognized as symptoms at the time, and I honestly expected the test to be negative.

However, I did have one symptom for about a week prior to finding out- I was extremely sensitive to smells. But, oddly enough, I didn't think of it being a symptom until I knew I was pregnant. I honestly thought everything just smelled really bad. Everything- our fridge, the gas station, the grocery store, and especially my husband's favourite pepperoni sticks. I ranted about how bad everything smelled for days, and my husband thought I was losing my mind as I gagged over anything that offered the least bit of scent. I didn't put two and two together until just after I found out I was pregnant and we went to Subway for lunch (because I had thrown out all the food in our fridge, thinking it was rotten because it smelled so bad, lol) and the smell of baking bread, which is a good smell, almost made me throw up. Then it clicked. The extreme sensitivity to smells lasted until I was about 10 to 12 weeks along, but strong smells (like curry- it was everything I could do to not throw up on the street outside an Indian restaurant we walked by one day) bothered me all the way through.

  • I had a smell sensitivity as well as I felt "off" really tired, more so then usual, almost like I was coming down with something, so I POAS, I was not even late yet and got a BFP.

  • Also, your cycles can be all messed up after you come off BCP.  It is not uncommon for your first few cycles afterwards to be longer, more painful, etc.

Not that I don't wish you luck, i'm just saying...
