I'm really worried. *vent*

I got some test results back today, and apparently my testosterone levels are through the roof. My Dr, who's not good at calming people over the phone mentioned my levels were some of the highest he's seen in a while.

The good news is this explains my horrible acne, losing hair (like crazy) and my voice getting deeper. My cholesterol levels are in great shape too, so there's that.

I can't believe all of my symptoms over the past few years may all be linked to my testosterone. I don't know much about what's related to these elevated levels, but I plan on spending the rest of the day researching while I wait for my Dr. to call me back with an appointment for more testing and hopefully a diagnosis.

I'm really worried...and scared. I know all of the women on my moms side of the family with the exception of my mom were diagnosed with ovarian cancer in their late 20's....ugh. I hope this is not related to that.

  • I was going to say to get off of the computer, but I don't see your bubble so maybe you already have. ETA - I see your bubble now. just stop doing research, you don't want to make a mountain out of a molehill, you know?

try not to freak out until you hear from the dr - I know, easier said than done.  please keep us posted!

  • I agree with Ssinca....the computer can be dangerous.  I'm sending lots of positive vibes your way, but just stay in touch with your doctor.  You can work through this one step at a time.
  • Don't freak out high levels of testostrone are **fairly** common in women.

Do you have irregular periods by any chance? Have you looked into possible PCOS?

My testostrone levels are also wonky and my female hormones are low. I've been referred to an edocryinologist to look into it- but from what i understand it's fairly easy to bring back to balance. Don't freak out till you speak to your doctor about it. This could be a very simple imbalance to control.

  • I stopped with the internet research. I'm going to head over to the OBGYN asap.
  • I really think you need to take a deep breath woman.
  • Sorry to hear.  I hope everything is ok!

by choice or because they asked you to come in?

    That was my question too.

  • (((hugs))) I hope all is well!
  • (((HUGS))) hope all is well - I would also wonder about a possible PCOS diagnosis. Good luck at the doctor's and please keep us posted!
  • I hope everything is ok. [hugs]
  • I hope everything is okay, too! You're in my thoughts!
  • It sounds like you've had a rough few years health wise.  I hope you'll get some answers and that things will be okay.  Hang in there and keep us posted.

    That was my question too.

My Dr. called me and told me to go in, it had been 2 years so it was time anyways. He thought it would be a good idea while I wait to see the Endocrinologist, since my OBGYN takes walk ins.

I got an exam. Hopefully between this and my upcoming endo appt. I'll get some answers.

  • hope all is well and you get some answers soon.  sorry to hear.
  • Sending good vibes your way, hope everything is okay!
  • My first thought is that you have PCOS.  Let us know what you find out!

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

    Ditto.

If this is indeed what you have there are many ways to manage it. From what I know, it's not that uncommon for women with high levels of testosterone. Hang in there and stay positive!

  • Thanks ladies!

I wouldn't be surprised if I have PCOS either, although I'm waiting until I get an official diagnosis. My Dr. called this morning and asked me to check in to the hospital tomorrow morning, I think they're probably running more tests. They wouldn't say much, but I'm assuming if it was life threatening or super serious they would not have me wait until tomorrow.

  • Oh wow, being checked into the hospital! Positive vibes coming your way!

  • What? You're checking INTO a hospital? Indifferent

Yikes- and your doctor didn't tell you why? Good luck and keep us posted.

It's Kaiser, and I think the reason they're doing it is to get me quicker testing and results. If they have to do certain types of testing that require injections or drawing every few hours it probably makes more sense to have me in the hospital instead of the regular physicians trying to keep tabs on me in their office, since most of those folks never do anything on time and their regular lab always has a line around the hallway.

  • Cool  Oooooo.

    Good luck.

  • Good luck! I hope you have answers and a treatment plan soon
  • I'm back from the Dr, they took more tests and did more exams. The Endo and OBGYN have pretty much ruled out PCOS so that's good. Right now, my Dr's are focused on my adrenal and pituitary glands. I have to go in tomorrow for even more labs and hopefully next week I'll have a diagnosis! One step closer!
  • Glad you are on your way to a diagnosis!!
