I'm slightly elated... so I just have to share.
I've been a bit worried about getting up early to run so I stay on track with my 1/2 training. Most days I run on my lunch hour, but with some of my runs getting longer, I don't always have time.
Today was my first morning run in a LONG time. It felt good to know that if I have to get up early to get my runs in, I CAN do it! Now, I just have to keep reminding myself of that.
Anyone else have an AW moment to share on this fine Wednesday morning?

Re: AW: 5:45 am
Megan - Yay for new running shoes!!! Pink and silver sounds wonderful, and I've heard Saucony's are good shoes.
It's sad to say, but I don't have the roads mapped out veyr well for distance around our house because I usually do run near work. I figure I did just over 3 miles, but tonight I'm going to drive my route and see for sure. I'm really excited that we are both running - it actually keeps me motivated to chat with you about it on here. Do you think you'll sign up for any races later this summer/fall/winter?
I need to go on there and look up races. I definitely like to start doing them this fall, especially when it's colder (i run better when its cold, the hot air down here is waaay to thick and I think I would suck bad at a race in the hot heat). But yeah I'm definitely planning on doing it and I told DH about it and he said he'd be there at the finish line waiting for me!! It gets me excited cause I've never done one!! Like (this is probably a stupid question) if they have water stand during the races, can you stop and take drinks or do you grab them on the go? Gaaah i'm such a newb to this!!!
Have you looked at the people on there who have lost weight by running? I mean it's just amazing to see their transformations!!!
I wish I could go run at 5:45! I am waking my daughter up at that time to get her ready for daycare. I have to leave my house by 6:15 every morning. So for me to go run in the morning means I would be getting up way to early.
awww..moment this week would be yesterday, Kelsey has been w/my MIL since Sunday night so seeing her yesterday was wonderful! She is also turning into such a little girl and told" mommy that is cute" talking about what I was wearing! She would say that to anything I wore but it made me feel better.
Well, my entire history of competitive races is one 5K and 1 race that was probably 1.5 miles. With that being said, I just grabbed some water and drank it as I ran on my 5k. I really am a newbie to all this too... the H&F board really got me thinking that I CAN train for this. It is AMAZING how far some people have come.
I'm going to check out some local grocery stores and fitness stores to find out about the carb chews and gels some people take on long runs. I've never even taken water (much less gatorade or gel) with me on a run. But, it does make sense that on 3 miles + you really need to rehydrate and re-energize. When it's really humid here it's hard to run too. Uggg.
I'll have to keep you updated on what I find out about carrying water, gatorade or such. They sell camel packs or fanny pack looking things to hold water, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for that just yet!
Yay Bkenan! Your daughter is such a cutie!! A lady I work with has a 2 1/2 year old and it seems like such a fun age. They really are just like small people already:)
Getting up early can be a bummer. I didn't realize you worked that early. For the longest time, I just didn't think I could fit running into my schedule anymore. It's super convenient that I can run over lunch - BUT it's hot then. With balancing morning and noon runs, I hope it works out okay. BecauseI never get home until 8 or 9, I know I'd never fit it in during the later part of the day.
Lisa, I was gonna ask you about those chews and gels and stuff. I've never carried water or anythign with me either and I was looking at those hydration belts (liek you said a fanny pack and it ahs little bottles that fit into holsters) but I think those would get on my nerves whilst running? what do you think? I need to lurk more on the h&f board then. They seem to have some good suggestions huh!! I'm excited your doing this too and we can share info with each other!! YAY!!
bkenan, that is soooo sweet what your daughter said!!! She is just precious!!
thom- on the days my daughter goes to daycare it takes about 30 mins just because I have to drop her off and go the other direction for work...but when she is with my MIL I have a 1/2 mile to go, needless to say my work is VERY close to our house just not to daycare.
I started going to shorter runs at night because of the heat here in HOTlanta...haha. but hopefully when the weather gets a little cooler I will be more inclined to go to the park and jog around the track or since their are sidewalks all around our neighborhood and around our little city I could find a good path to run around.
I just hate going out by the main roads because people are so rude, I always seem to attract the wrong kind of attention unless DH is with me, and I dont exactly want that and since our puppy isnt to scary looking it doesnt do much.
