Hi ladies!

I am visiting Southern Cali in mid August and need help trying to figure out what to pack/ shop for for my trip! Any suggestions? TIA!?

Re: Hi ladies!

  • Where are you going to be visiting?  The coast is cooler than the Inland Empire (where we all live)...by about 20-30 degrees on most days!

  • I'll be staying in Murrieta, but will probably go to Dana Point, Laguna Beach, and Santa Ana while I'm there!?
  • Cool!  Murietta's not too far from me (I'm in Corona)!

It gets HOT here during the day and doesn't cool down all that much at night (our AC runs pretty much day and night).  I mean like over 100 hot (but it's a dry heat Smile).  I've seen it hotter than heck in Corona and foggy in Dana Point/Laguna Beach.  Layers is probably your best bet for the coast.  It's pretty much a sure thing shorts and tank tops are good for Murietta.  A jacket for the evenings on the coast is a good idea too.  I pretty much wear flip-flops 24/7 whether I'm at home or at the beach.

I hope this helps!  If you have any other questions just let us know!

  • I live in murrieta and its been hot from 5am-midnight. every once in awhile we'll get a breeze. Even with the ac on my kids are wearing the bare minimum. Last time we went to SD and Irvine, I definitely needed layers for the kids but nothing more than thin pants and a hoody.
  • Man! I was hoping this was a newbie hello post!

Like the other girls said, it's been HOT HOT HOT and will be even hotter in August! So tanks, shorts, and flip flops. For the coast bring a light sweater and a pair of jeans. Hope you have a great trip!

  • The beach gets cold at night. I would wear jeans and a pullover sweatshirt. Obviously that's not going to work if you're going clubbing or something though. But for the IE...definitely dress for hot weather. And bring your sunscreen!
  • Dress for HOT weather. It's been in the 100's lately and will probably stay that way through August. We susally hit around 110-115 in August too. When you go to the beaches, bring a sweater because it will be cooler. But if you are used to cold weather (cold like we don't see in So Cal) than it may not be nearly as cool for you as it is for us. Wink
  • Good point Melinda!

In college, my roommate from Palm Springs would say it was freezing and I thought it was hot. This was in Irvine.

Are thinking of moving to the murrieta area?

  • Thinking about it. I am currently divorced and met someone through work who lives there. I am visiting him in a few weeks and we're going to see how it goes!?
  • Hi! Ditto to what the other girls said. I don't have much to contribute just wanted to say hi

Awesome. I hope everything goes good with your visit. It's real nice area over here. A bit slow for some people but that's how we like it. :)

  • I have nothing to add either, but just wanted to say hi.
  • Well you're coming at the perfect time, to get a feel of what summers are really like and how hot it gets. I'm from IN and I came out and visited in March and of course it was green and beautiful. I actually moved out in August and I couldn't believe how different it was and brown everywhere. I was extremely disappointed.

  • Thanks ladies! Can't wait for my trip!!?

?Any romantic restaraunts or hot spots I should make him take me to???

  • Being in Murrieta, you'll be very close to Wine Country Temecula. Lots of great restaurants and wineries for an evening out.
