What to take to dinner with friends...
Going over to my husband's friend's house for dinner on Friday. They don't drink. DH told them I'd bring something. I don't even know what we're having! Suggestions?
Re: What to take to dinner with friends...
If you want something edible, what about an easy, light dessert? If you want something like that, I'm sure we can give you plenty of ideas on here.
For non-drinkers, we've also taken bottles of sparkling cider or sparkling white grape juice and it's gone over well - we actually just did this for friends of ours who moved into a new house and are expecting a baby next month (so obviously, a bottle of wine wouldn't have been appropriate).
For something non-edible, what about a pretty bouquet? Since it's summer, there's so many pretty flowers in bloom and they're super inexpensive.
... every single day of forever.
Without knowing what's on the menu, it's pretty hard to judge...I'd try to have your DH find out what's on the menu and maybe ask what they need or would prefer you cover. Otherwise...
You could take the fixings for strawberry shortcakes, pretty easy to transport and who doesn't love strawberry shortcake in the Summer?
What about a flavored lemonade, strawberry or raspberry - pretty and refreshing.
If you want something more as an appetizer or something to much on after dinner while you chat or what not, maybe a small veggie tray w/ a yummy dip?
Whenever I don't know what to bring somewhere I make cucumber sandwiches that can be an appitizer, they are super easy and so good.
You'll need a loaf of french bread (the long, skinny kind), a pack of cream cheese, one cucumber and a packet of buttermilk ranch dressing. Slice both the french bread and the cucumber (I do mine really think and than put them on paper towels to dry a little). Mix together the cream cheese and ranch mix to get the topping, then just spread the bread with the cream cheese mixture and top with a cucumber slice.
