I'm very curious b/c I lurk on the money message board and everyones electric bills seem SOO cheap!! We are now on budget billing with our electric bill and pay $194...we live in a bungalow with a basment and walk up attic but live primarly on the first floor. We keep our AC at 76 during the day and 74 at night....what does everyone else pay?
I can't figure out how some of these poster on the money board pay under $120 a month for electric. I just also say that we have an electric stove and water heater so I'm sure that makes a difference. Our gas bill is $71 a month (also budget billing) this time a year we are normally paying around $7 for gas and in the mid to high $200 for electric if we weren't on budget billing
If you don't mind posting what you pay I'd love to see if we are good or if we need to get something checked out
TIA
Re: just curious...electric bill cost?
(Guess I should have added that we have a 2 story townhouse, no basement or attic.)
Bill due in June was...
Electric- 95.52
Gas- 17.14
We have a 3 bedroom, two story, end unit townhouse with an attic, but no basement. We have an electric stove, but gas water heater and dryer (I think!). This was a relieving low bill for us after a rough winter. We'll see what July brings using MUCH more air conditioning since we are home more often and it's hotter outside.
As mentioned in a pp, it's a good idea to unplug all charging devices when not in use - laptop chargers, cell phone chargers. Even when they're not charging your phone, they use a lot of electricity.
And Kristin, it is s good idea to turn down your hot water heater. You'll still get plenty of hot water (and quickly!), especially during the summer. These changes have made a difference in our energy usage.
