Facebook

In the past two weeks, I've had friend requests from 3 of my 5 siblings, all of whom are newly joining Facebook.  I guess I just hadn't ever considered they'd be on FB before because none of them are all that computer-minded (except one, but that's by force.  He LIVES on his computer/blackberry for work pretty much, so it wasn't altogether shocking when he joined FB.)

Does anyone else just feel slightly weird when family starts getting on this stuff?

I think partially it's because I'm the youngest in my family by far and our family has always been a no-computer or computer-related anything. LOL

Re: Facebook

  • My DAD has a facebook account.  I think he originally started it to see recent pictures of David.  Now he plays all those mobster type game things and wants me to join his mob.  That's strange.

Also, DH's boss is also a friend of mine which made me slightly think today's status message but I was like f' it.  If she doesn't like it, she doesn't have to read it.

  • A bunch of my family is on there too especially Dh's Aunt. Grr. lol. Anyways my dad is now on there but we are not friends since we have no relationship to begin with but it is weird/odd.
  • Some of my DH's younger cousins are on there which made me slightly uncomfortable when they friend requested me.  But, oh well...I dont have anything bad on there.  I would never accept a co-workers request though and I'll tell them that too.  lol

This was a discussion we has last week casually among my CWs.  A few of them started FB to kind of see each other, you know?  (It's a global company - we work across offices, but it's pretty common you only know the name and maybe the voice.)  So CW D started it for work purposes.  Then his niece (maybe 20ish) found him and now he's got all sorts of people wanting to be his friend from friend/family connections.  It makes him nervous. LOL

I have 2 friends on FB that are CWs.  One has become a fairly good friend of mine; the other we've hung out with for Brewer games and things.  I would only accept a friend request from a CW I would hang out with outside work. LOL  Like CW D?  Absolutely.  But I see several other people on there from work and wouldn't just because it'd come back to haunt me, I think.

  • weird you brought this up...i just read an article on this on msn. both my parents are on FB. according to my mom it was so she can advertise her businessbut all she does is post huge walls of text about her dog. dad just joined this week...we'll see how that goes.
Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

  • I got a friend request from my Mom about 2 weeks ago. I thought it was REALLY weird because she really isn't the 'computer' type. I'll get over it.
  • Oh, as far as c/w'ers go I will only friend them if I will hang/have hung out with them outside of work. Besides that, I'm good.

My boss is actually on Facebook. I can't see anything good coming out of that.

Amen to that! LOL (As far as I know, my boss is not... but I'm also not seeking her out.  We don't have that kind of relationship. LOL)

I saw him on my 'People you may know'. My first thought was what c/w'ers of mine actually have him as a friend??

  • My mom is on facebook.  It was weird at first but a LOT of her friends from high school are on there.  And a lot of my cousins are on it too.  I guess it doesn't bother me but there are definitely some people I would never friend.  Like the other partners at my firm.  Some things simply aren't meant to be mixed with work.
  • My mom just got on there to see what my sis and Em are up to since they live far away and they only talk once every few weeks.  She didn't want to friend anyone else, but this last week she's gotten like 10 new friends, all from her workplace.  I think it's cool, but I do have to make sure what I say is mom-friendly.  My MIL is also on there.  I'm good with it, but I'm close to everyone in my family and MH's!
