I'm curious to know which multivitamin you took before conceiving. Apparently the one I use doesn't have enough of what I need to be taking.

You should be taking a multivitamin that's labelled prenatal, like the ones mentioned above. They will have adequate folic acid.
I take a prescription one - PregVit Folic 5. Newer studies indicate that pregnant women should be taking 5mg of folic acid and most still contain 1.
I only got the prescription though because it is 100% covered by my benefits. Otherwise, I would have just taken materna or life brand and then an extra 5mg folic acid supplement.
My answer could have been this exactly.
I take Jamison brand.
I have low iron so this brand has the highest amount of iron.
I also take extra folic acid.
My doctor said I didnt have to take the extra folic acid if I didnt want to as long as I was eating a healthy diet containing green leafy veggies and whole grain foods.
I took PregVit during pregnancy.
