Has anyone delivered at Virtua Marlton or Mount Holly? I live in Delran. Any good recommendations for an OBGYN that is out of that hospital and in the area (Moorestown, Cherry Hill, etc)
Reason I'm asking is that my current hospital is about 45 minutes away. DH and I were planning to move closer to that hospital but unfortunately since the market stinks we can't sell our house. So, I'm starting to have some anxiety about being so far away from the hospital. If you were in my shoes, would you stay with the current OBGYN/hospital (which I'm happy with) or would you switch to a closer hospital/OBGYN? If you can't tell this is my first pregnancy ![]()
Thanks!
Re: Virtua hospital/OBGYN
I delivered there and was happy....I go to Pheonix OB/GYN and love them. They have offices in Moorsetown and Mt. Holly....
My first pg I moved to Pheonix at about 30 weeks for the same reason as you and trust me, I don't regret it. The other hospital/docs were great, BUT at the end I needed to see the doc 3x per week and I was grateful I didn't have to make the long drive.....also my hubby and parents were glad we were close the the hospital.
i delivered at virtua Mt. Holly and my OBGYN is phoenix obgyn in moorestown. based on the fact that 1st pregnancies usually have very long labors, i would rather live really close to my ob vs. really close to the hospital!
it is also nice to live close to the hospital just for the convenience of you husband (if he wants to drive home after baby is born to shower or bring you anything)
my experience there was great! i would definitely recommend it. the nurses were sooooo attentive, rooms comfy, flat screen tvs. only thing was the internet connection sucked so i couldnt get on the computer!
funny that we all go to phoenix obgyn!
I don't have any experience w/the doc or hospital but I can say that I would use a hospital and doctor that was closer to my house.
Labor/delivery wasn't an issue for us but everytime DH had to drive home it was at least 1hr 15 mins round trip. It wasn't terrible while I was in their after I had the baby because I only stayed for 2 nights, but Olivia was really sick after birth and was admitted to the hospital when she was 10 days old for 8 nights. Believe me, that drive got old REALLY fast.
I also had to drive to Wash Twp to see my OB, which wouldn't be so terrible if they weren't ALWAYS running late. I didn't get home until after 9pm when I had a 7p appointment.
I loved my hospital (Kennedy Wash) and will deliver any other children I have there, but hopefully we will be back in Gloucester County by then, lol.
