Son of a b!tch!!

We were sitting on our deck the other day enjoying all of D's recent handiwork (repainted the muskoka rockers, stained the deck, installed an awning) when we noticed that one of our rose buds was laying on the deck railing.  Strange, it hadn't even bloomed yet.

Then yesterday as we were preparing dinner, D looked out the window and saw a squirrel rip a rosebud right off the stem and start eating it.  They've ripped 4 rosebuds off my beautiful chicago peace rose.  It hasn't even bloomed yet!!

We're out of Critter Ridder, so I sprinkled the rail with cayenne pepper, but I'll pick more up tonight - in bulk and maybe a BB gun (I kid).  I was frustrated enough with having to replant my annuals every other day in the spring.  But now, those litle ba$tards  have gone too far!!

Re: Son of a b!tch!!

  • Dang squirrels! We have a family of chipmunks that have been stalking our house since we moved in. Cute, but little buggers for sure!
  • What a crafty little rodent! I hope you can get rid of them!
  • Oh I know exactly how you feel!  The squirrels are ravaging my garden.  And... I was watching and looking forward to my roses blooming but no... the squirrels ate them all off!  Kidding aside, I really would like a way to get rid of them.

  • I used to brake for squirrels - no longer. I hate those fluffy rats! 1.5 years ago one got into our house and was there for 2 weeks before we could trap it! We moved to my ILs cuz it scared the crap out of me. It eventually died somewhere in the basement ceiling. We couldn't find it, and it stunk for a long time.

It scratched up our doors and window sills in the meantime and managed to sh*t all over the place. I basically had to boil the entire house from top to bottom when we got home.

We've also had issues with them in our garden and in they built a nest in our bbq.

    B*stards! I despise them.

  • I also always picture that scene from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation when the squirrel darts out of the tree and clings to Clark's face. When I had to go back into my house when the squirrel was there I made sure I was covered from head to toe (hood tied tight) and I carried a tennis raquet, just in case!
