Anyone from Indy??

My husband and I were talking today, and got the idea in mind that we might like to move to Indianapolis some day.  We currently live in Chicago.  I'm about to take the Illinois bar exam, and he will be graduating from law school in 2 years, so we'd both need to get attorney jobs.  Does anyone know what the legal market in the city is like or projections for the next 2-3 years?  Also, how open is the market to a regional Chicago law school graduate?  Any idea about starting salaries?  Thanks!  I'm not sure where else to look for this information.

  • I was going to link you to the Indiana board but I saw that you posted over there - that's probably your best bet since this board is international.
  • I live in Indy!  I saw your post over there...it's kind of dead.

I love Indianapolis.  I grew up about 20 minutes south of Indianapolis and H grew up on the Southside (perry township).  We live in Perry Township.  It takes me about 15-20 minutes to get to my office downtown.

Indy is a lot easier to get around then Chicago, and there is lots to do.  Indians, Colt's, Pacers, Zoo, Children's Museum, a couple art museums, etc.  We also get Broadway Across America shows.  Lots of great local restaurants and pubs too.

There are several major law firms downtown.  I am not a lawyer, so I can't help much on that though.

I am partial to the Southside because it's a lot easier to get downtown, not as congested, and you get a lot more for your money housing wise.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
