Hourly Job

I am wanting to get an hourly job and am considering going to pottery barn, crate and barrel, bed bath and beyond, pier 1, maybe home depot...does anybody know what their starting hourly wage is?  I really want to make no less than $10/hour, or any other suggestions please!!  Thanks!

Re: Hourly Job

  • I would think that just starting out at a place like that would be $7-$8.  When I worked at Bath and Body Works I made $7.00 an hour. *Edited to say that it's probably gone up since then.  But even as an employee at an Insurance company I only made $11.
  • I'm looking for a job too. :(

  • I think most places start around 8 with incentives for certain sales. I know our employees work on commission but most come from retail jobs that paid about 8 an hour.
  • I think between 7-8 is what you'll probably get.  DH works in retail mgmt and he's often frustrated because it's hard to get employees to stay very long when they're making 7.50.  He'd like to pay more but the company won't let him.  At least it's better than nothing, though.

  • When I worked at Anthropologie a couple years ago I was paid $8.50/hr. So I would think places like PB would be similar or slightly higher.

  • I would look into trying to become a cashier at Costco. I have heard that they start their employees at a pretty great hourly rate. It is probably more difficult to get a job there though.
  • I remember a while back when I was just out of college, I heard that The Container Store paid $10/hr.  It's worth checking out.

Williams Sonoma always has nicely dressed women working; I would think they pay better than the average store.

When I was in school I worked as an assistant in a model home.  I had to work weekends and 2 days a week.  I think they started me at $12/hr and I ended up getting a full time position with the company.  Not sure if it is still the same now that the building boom is over??
