Williamstown Area?

Our house was on the market for 3 weeks and we sold it! Now I have two months to find a house and pack up ours. We haven't had any luck in the areas we were originally looking. We have a few appts set up for the Williamstown area (there are really great houses there) but dont know much about the school district and area? It is good?

I grew up there. I went to Holly Glenn, Oak Knoll and then St. Joe in Hammonton for high school. Both of my brothers went to Williamstown public schools in high school.

I think it's comparable to Wash Twp. Big, crowded, &diverse. I know taxes are high there. My parents live in Tall Oaks and their taxes are about $7,000/yr.

They have a small Catholic school, St. Mary's, that goes from K-8. Most kids then go to area Catholic high schools from there (OLMA, the Prep, St. Joe & Paul VI).

I love my parents area (Hunter Woods, Tall Oaks, Wild Spring) as well as some of the new developments off of Radix Rd. You can get a lot of house for your money in Gloucester County -- unlike Camden County.

If we didn't both work in Philly I would be back in Williamstown in a heartbeat -- but I can not take the commute, 42 is a nightmare in the morning.

I live in the next town over and my husband grew up in Williamstown. It's really nice here. I would recommend it.

I live in Blackwood, which is essentially one town over from Williamstown. One of DH's cousins and her family live in Whitman Square, and it's a very nice neighborhood. I believe her school district is Washington Twp., however. I do know that she loves it there.

I just moved to Williamstown in December and it's ok. I also commute to Philly so it's a long commute. Other than that, it's fine. We don't have kids yet so I can't say much about the school system. Although the grade schools are supposed to be blue ribbon. There are a few other nesties that live in my development. We are still getting used to the area and finding out what's around.

I grew up there, but decided not to buy a house there. The schools are okay, not great but the taxes are very high, especially for new construction.

We just moved here also. But I beg to differ about the taxes. If you want new construction- pretty much wherever you go you will pay ALOT of taxes because you are taxed on the full valuation of the home. So, if you want a new construction home I actually think you are getting good bang for your buck in Williamstown between the amount of land, the size of home and the amount tax you will pay. IMO... Williamstown gets good marks for schools and is not "TOO" far from philly and the shore..

I agree that you get much more house and land for your money. We were looking at quarter acre lots in camden county and now we have 1/2 acre and a house that is much larger.
