Honestly?
So at around 3:20 I got a message that my dad was on his way to an appointment when he was hit head on by a drunk driver. After a few hours of worrying, we find out my dad is ok. He has a minor concussion and some cracked ribs, but not really damaged (Thank you God). The other guy literally walked away from the scene. He walked got about 2 miles away when the police picked him up. Apparently he had 4 empty vodka bottles in his car. 4?!? Holy geez! Who does that? All I can think is his life must really suck if he has to drink that much on a Tuesday afternoon.
Oh and no, he had no insurance.

I don't know what my parents are going to do legally but I support whatever they do decide to do. I can't believe the guy tried to walk away. My dad said he was in his car upside down calling for help and the guy just turned around and walked away. I really want that guy to pay for that. It's one thing to be dumb and make a mistake but to consciously walk away while someone could be gravely injured is pure evil.

Of COURSE he had no insurance! They never do, do they? It probably wasn't his first DUI either...

I am a claims adjuster and you're right...they never seem to have insurance. He could still try and sue the guy but I seriously doubt he has anything to go after. I really doubt it's his first DUI too. What a pathetic person. I don't know how any human could walk away from an injured man like that. He must be seriously be jacked up!

I hope that guy goes to jail and never drives again. Drunk driving terrifies me and pisses me off royally. So selfish and irresponsible.
OMG! I'm glad your dad is ok!! How scary! Yeah, it kills me how people who cause these accidents usually get away completly free while someone else pays for their stupidness.
Just something to remember, your dad should still process whatever paperwork needs to be done so that it's known to the state that he ows him. A friend of mine used to work for the CHP and he said that stuff like this happens, and the victim dosn't bother sewing or anything because they don't have anything, but if they EVER get some money, like an inheritence or win the lottery, the state will give the money to any outstanding debts like this first before the individual even sees the money.
Not to make it worse but I had 5 patients yesterday and 4 of them were there from car accidents cause from...yep drunk driving.
Most of them don't have insurance either so that means we will be paying for their hospital visit too.
