In our bathroom, we have a series of painted wooden picture frames plus a metal wall decor hanging that have gotten hairspray and other gunk on them since they are on the wall directly behind the sink.
I was thinking I'd try warm soapy water first - but wasn't sure how the paint would hold up or if anything would even come up with that. They're not super expensive frames but I don't want to ruin them. Ideas?
Re: Cleaning painted frames?
I love Magic Erasers, but be careful with them on things that are painted. I was cleaning the painted cabinates at our new house with one and it seemed like it was taking the paint off (I was really scrubing hard though).
I clean a lot of stuff with just warm water and Pin-Sol, so far it hasn't taken the paint of anything.
I def. wouldn't use a magic eraser on anything painted...we used one on the linen closet door in our bathrom (which is painted white) to try to clean off some smudges from fingers/hands and it took the paint off!
I would go with your idea first and try to remove what you can w/ hot water and a cleaning rag or sponge. Then maybe try a gentle cleanser (something by Method?) or a really watered down all-purpose cleaner like Mr. Clean. You could even try a vinegar/water solution.
