Hi ladies,
I have a coworker who thinks so highly of himself, no one else thinks so. He also doesn't like me b/c of my ethnicity. So, anytime I call him and leave a message, he never gets back to me--like he feels I should call him. If I email him, since there is a trace he gets back right away.
I asked him once as does he get my msg, that he didn't get back and he said he is busy, aren't we all.
I barely work with him. Should I let it slid and just email him all the time?
I rather not be confrontational but address the issue. I know he is going to hide behind "he is busy", WWYD?
Thanks,
WR
Re: WWYD? Annoying coworker
Not responding to emails certainly demonstrates lack of professionalism. When I feel like I'm being "ignored" by someone, I forward my most recent email back to them, cc either my boss, thier boss or both with an additional line of text at the top that says. "I have not heard back from you in reference to email below sent 1 week ago, please reply with your comments asap,"
Regards,
me
Do that a few times and he'll be more likely to respond to your first email, to avoid being embarrased in front of more senior members of the group.
this, I HATE talking on the phone and try not to do anything verbally that I can put in writing (plus the paper trail is a must.)
I also agree that unless he's really crossing any lines or preventing you from doing your job, I would try to limit the interaction with him.
If somebody hasn't returned my call, I usually try to nicely put that into my email too like "As I stated in the voice message that I left earlier, I am still awaiting..." just to cover my bases (and I cc people)
