Friend of mine runs home daycare and watches a little girl whose mother delivery her 27week baby last week .. he weighed in at 6 lbs 1oz
He was in hospital for 4 days as they monitored his lung function and then was released.. it is tiny in length but apparent she can't care a baby to full term for whatever reason she has issues; she is luck to have been able to have the 2 kids she did becasue doc's said it would never happen for her; but she stayed positive and it happened for her;
BUT seriously... 6lbs... could you imagine if she carried to full term... he would have been like 12-15lbs!
Re: 27 week fetus; 6LBS
Oh dear. Are they sure it was 27 weeks? wowza!
Happy Easter
My Blog
The fetus was only 27weeks; she got pre-clampsia and so they knew baby would be born 2 days to a few weeks so they gave her a shot to help baby's lungs develop and then 3 days later!
Her pregnancy was considered high risk so they know the conception day and all the fine details
That is crazy. Even if he was 6lbs at 27 weeks they can still have so many problems, at 27 weeks there is still so much development that needs to happen (their central nervous systems don't even work properly until 35 - 36 weeks). It's hard to believe that she wasn't further along then she thought!!!
Sorry just speaking from what I am living right now. I had two steroid shots with Dylan (2 weeks before he was born) he was born at 32w3d and was bigger for his gestational age but there is no way that would send him home after only 2 days. Babies that young can't control their breathing/sucking/swallowing at the same time so it makes it really hard for them to eat, as well as apnea and heart rate drops (brady's). I'm pretty skeptical of this....
I only know what I was told ladies...
Baby was deilvery and then medivaced to sick kids...
So I was shocked too... thus is why I was sharing!
