Hey! I just read your weekend post below - and thanks for the good laugh :) I often wonder what summer would be like if DH were a teacher too. We always say how awesome it would be, but I guess it has its downfalls too! That being said, DH works from home 2x a week, and on those days I find it takes me much longer to get anything done!

Also, kudos to you on trying to get the nursery done before school starts! We finally ordered our furniture last night, I have it narrowed down to 2 bedding sets, and I need to decide between two gliders that we like. We also have to register yet before leaving on our cruise next Friday. I am also trying to get as much done as possible before school starts, which is coming way too soon. At least our painting is done!

Enjoy the rest of summer and good luck getting everything done!

Thanks Megan! Mostly it has its perks being home together but towards the end of the summer I start to get stressed about going back to school and sometimes take it out on him.  But he got laid off and is hired back as the day to day sub (he was contracted so the union is fighting it, court date not until Jan) so he is a bit stressed too.

My mom is nutty and is having a shower in Dillsburg Aug 22 (I'm not supposed to know) the WEEKEND before school starts. I could kill her!! So I registered at both Target and BRU.

We have painting done and I made the bedding/in process of making it. Gliders I am sooo "stressed" about. And DH parents kindly offered to buy us a crib so  I am excited to go shopping w/them for it.

Is your sister excited for the baby? When are her and Jon going to have one? I can't believe our 10 year reunion is next year.  I hope we have one, although Tim Morgan is out in Cali so someone else will probably have to step up!

Enjoy your cruise! Where are you headed?

  • I hear you about getting stressed! I think I had a dream the other night about school starting again. I always dream about my kids as it is during the year - and now I'm dreaming about the baby all the time... no wonder I'm already not sleeping good! Sorry to hear that your DH got laid off. Was it due to budget/position cuts? Thankfully we didn't have any big cuts, but of course we aren't getting our step increae or a cost of living. We're already underpaid compared to other countines in MD, so I'm bummed about not getting the next step!

Wow, your shower will be here quickly! Yeah, the weekend before school would make it nutty but I'm sure you'll have a great time. We haven't even registered yet but will go this next week - can't wait although I'm sure it is going to get overwhelming. The furniture was easy at first, until we realized that the set we wanted wasn't going to work. The hutch was a good 10 inches too long for the area, otherwise it would partially cover the window. So we had to go back and finally found a set that would work.

Cara is really excited for the baby. She and Jon probably won't have one for at least another 2 years. She is in her last year of Physician's assistant school and is in the middle of her rotations. She finished in May but wants to work for at least a year to get herself somewhat established. So, maybe when we're on to our second they'll be ready!

Wow, that is hard to believe that it will be 10 years. Where does the time go?? Good old Tim Morgan - what is he up to?

Our cruise heads to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Freeport, Bahamas. I'm getting a little nervous just because of being pregnant. But I'm sure it will go fine. I've been feeling great overall.

  • Speaking of gliders...

We're going back to a few stores to just look at these (3 hours of furniture shopping in one night was enough), but hands down my favorite has been the Sona model by Best Chairs. It is amazingly comfortable and you can pick any fabric/design (they have maybe 75 choices?) which is included in the base cost. The wood also comes in espresso which is the color of our set. The cost is $629 I think, but our store will accept competitors coupons up to 20% off so it brings it down to around $500. It includes the ottoman for that price, which isn't bad with the coupon, although we weren't originally going to pay this much. It honestly was heavenly to sit in :)

The other two brands we are looking at are Shermag and Dutailer. If we go with either of these, we'll go with their "stock" models, which run around $299 for the glider plus $129 for the ottoman. Once we decide on one of the above three we'll also check online b/c I know some nesties have found them cheaper. Places like BRU carry the Shermag, which I've heard great things about.

I found this deal for a Shermag through Costco: http://tinyurl.com/lzxcf3
I really like how it looks more modern, but I'm not sure if it has the comfy factor.

Anyway, almost everyone has told us that the swivel isn't worth it. It feels like an amusement ride to me and I can't imagine trying to get out of one with an infant! Rock, glide and swivel? The reclining feature is really nice but is more expensive - although we tried some of the multi lock models and you can go back really far and then lock it so you are reclining.

Anyway, not sure you wanted all of that info... but thought I'd share my two cents :)
