Moms to be & Moms...

How many of us are having babies this year or early next year?  When are you due? Me - Nov. 23rd

Have any of you considered taking expectant mom classes?  If so, where are they and who are they through?  I saw some at the Big City Mom's web site but it was only a 2 hour thing that crammed a lot of topics and dinner into a short amount of time and seemed a little pricey ($60.00).

Is anyone familiar with Big City Moms?  Are their programs good?

What other programs are there out there? I am primarily looking for stuff in Manhattan.

Thanks!

  • I'm due aug. 25. I'm taking a Bradley birthing class through mindfulbirthny at the 14th st. Y. I'm taking infant CPR and breast feeding through my hospital. $60 doesn't sound like a lot to me. The breastfeeding is$75. My bradley class is about $400.
  • I took a birthing class that was 375 I believe... It tough lamaze breathing and ways to handle the pain of delivery but I ended up having to have a se-section so I did get to us it much... I also took baby CPR through work.
  • Due Feb 22,

while expecting my first daughter, I took the classes offered through the hospital (breastfeeding, newborn care, and a 1-day birthing class) they were all pretty inexpensive ($30-60 each, I think)

  • I have a one year old but last year we took class at Realbirth. (www.realbirth.com)  I recommend it.  The instructor ended up being my doula.

Then we took the breastfeeding class at our hospital.
