Center for Women's Health - Camp Hill

Hi ladies!  I'm considering looking for a new OB/GYN, since the doctor I currently used switched affiliations with their hospital, and it's not one that I'm thrilled with (past experiences).  Not to mention he's 30 minutes from our house and we're looking to deliver at Holy Spirit when we are ready to have kids once DH gets back from deployment.  It's closer to the house than having to cross the river, and I've heard good things.

So, two part question, I suppose...

1:  Anyone use Center for Women's Health in Camp Hill?  How are they?  Which doctors in particular do/did you use?  Are they proactive in doing a pre-conception visit? (current dr doesn't really seem to be big on wanting to do this).

2:  Who has delivered and/or taken pre-delivery classes at Holy Spirit?  Did you enjoy the experience?  How was staff?

 Thanks, ladies! :)

  • 1. I go there and really had a good experience.  There are 4 dr. and 2 midwives and a nurse prac.  I saw all of them throughout my pregnancy and delivery. I'm not sure about the pre-conception visit.  I just asked questions at my last annual.

    2.  I deliverd at Holy Spirit and had a wonderful experince (aside from being very sick with pre-eclampsia).  The staff was great and the food was really good and I would know since I was there for 9 days after having DD.  If we weren't moving, I would deliver there and with CFWH in a heartbeat!

  • 1.  I go to Center for Women's Health, and I'm pleased with them.  I had an ectopic pregnancy about a year and a half ago, and they were great with me when I was a mess.  Dr. Long did my surgery that day, and he was very understanding, but also told me like it was, which I appreciate.   When I got pregnant again and was so worried about every little thing,  I did have to push a little bit to be monitored as much as I would like (I am very neurotic), but they did accomodate me.  They were very patient with me and one of the doctors (Dr. Stegman) even called me at home after I received a test back that the pregnancy was okay to congratulate me.  You see all of the doctors and midwives throughout your pregnancy.  Dr. Manning delivered DD.  I didn't do a preconception visit, and I'm not sure of their policy on that.

    2.  I did the classes and delivered DD at Holy Spirit and I would go back again.  It was so calm and peaceful there, and the room was huge. It had the spa tub, but I wasn't really into that.   I felt like I was the only one in the hospital.   I didn't have to leave the room the whole time.  Some nurses were better than others, but they were generally terrific.  The one nurse I had the night I had the baby was SO HELPFUL, I wish I could remember her name.  Others weren't as hands-on, but I kind of appreciated being left alone too.  DD was able to stay in the room with me during my stay.  All in all, no complaints, and I'll deliver here again.  I also thought the classes were helpful, though no one really uses those breathing techniques!
