Catholic gals...

My sister that lives in Addison just got engaged Sat at Walt Disney World =)

Did any of you get married at any of these churches?

Christ the King, Dallas
St. Thomas Aquinas, Dallas
Holy Trinity, Dallas

Did you have any problems not being a member of the church?

Our parents still live in G'vine so she is thinking about St. Francis as well

Re: Catholic gals...

  • I know that most of them are pretty strict about either being a member to be married there. They say there are expections but really there don't seem to be many.

I know St. Thomas is strict about it for sure. Not sure about the other two though.

  • i was married at Holy Trinity and have done weddings at both Christ the King and St Thomas - all 3 will marry non-parishioners but you'll have to pay a higher non-parishioner fee - also, even if you join the church you usually have to show regular giving to qualify for parishioner status - so you can't join the church just to get married there

St Francis doesn't let non-parishioners get married there but if your parents are members, they make an exception

HTH - and congrats to your sister!

  • Both my sister and I got married at Christ the King, but we also went to grade school there and my parents have always been members.  Like labellagirl said, they do allow non-parishoners, just a higher fee. You might also check out St. Monica or St. Rita, if her dates are taken at the churches you posted, they probably have the same requirements as well.
  • I got married at St Francis.  We were members & I don't think you can get married there unless you're a member (not sure though).  I know there was no requirement on previous donations or anything like that.

I attended a wedding at St Thomas & I don't believe the couple were members there.  Any church that allows non-members to marry there would probably charge a fee or higher fee for the service than what they'd charge a member.

I'd probably call just to verify their current policy.
