As you know I have been trying to find a new job since I graduated with my MBA in February. Since then I have applied for over 500 positions at least and only had one interview, which I was lucky to get. Yesterday I found a position with a marketing company that is willing to train, only problem is I have never heard of this company and cannot find a website for them. When I google the company name I see that there is one in California and wonder if they are just expanding as they suggested they were in their post. Today I received an email regarding setting up an interview. I really want to but am weary due to not being able to find anything on the company. I'm affraid if I go for the interview it will be in an office that was set up temporarily, almost like a scam (I had an interview at one of these places once. as soon as I pulled up I knew it was but I went for the interview anyway because I knew it would be rude to just leave). I guess it wouldn't hurt to at least go and see where they are and what they have to say. I plan on asking about a website when I talk them. But, what would you do if you were in this situation?
Re: What Would You Do?
Kelly - that's a tough situation for sure. I guess it could be a scam, but I would think that more than likely they are a smaller or start up company that just doesn't have the resources for a website or much advertising right now.
I would go to the interview if it isn't a problem to the time off from work, or you can do it during non-work hours. When I was job hunting, I know the hardest thing was finding a way to sneak out of work for a few hours to actually do interviews. If you do go, just make sure you bring your phone in with you (on silent of course) and that DH knows where you are. Hopefully there are no weird problems, but you never know.
Let us know what you decide and how it goes. GL!!
I'd still go.
Maybe mention something along the lines liking to reasearch a company before you interview but, that you've had a hard time locating thier corporate info. Ask if they have literature/a website that they can provide. Anytime you do to an interview you are looking into them as much as they are looking into you - both sides need to have a good fit so, I think it would be perfectly appropriate to ask.
Worst case scenario, it doesn't pan out but, you'll have one more interview experience under your belt.
