Any PA mental health professionals here?
I'm a DC Nestie, but my in-laws live in Central PA. We're having a very hard time with my MIL right now. She's very depressed and is accusing us of not bringing our son around because "she's not good enough, a monster, whatever" (it changes every day). She has been through some major health issues, but she just hasn't gotten over it even though she will probably outlive MY parents. Anyway, her seriousness in her messages has escalated over the last few days and she's said she drank a cup of bleach and is now having some intestinal issues. I don't actually believe her that she did it, but how am I supposed to have my 1-year old be around her...let alone let her babysit while we're away (never gonna happen) But that's why she's upset - we won't let her do these things.
With her saying she's attempted suicide, what are our options as far as getting her help without her consent? Thanks for any insight you can provide, as I know it's different in each state.

First, definitely don't leave your son with her! You obviously know this, but you're making the right decision.
I'm not sure what part of Central PA your MIL lives in, but each county has a crisis intervention line/center. I would call them. They are the ones who file the petition for an involuntary commitment. You can find the number in the phonebook.

Agree with PP. Not sure which county, but every county has a crisis intervention coordinator.....in York, I think they're at York Hospital.
There are also Mental Health offices in every county, but they will just refer you to crisis, due to the nature of your concern.
i just talked with my husband who works in the mental health field, and here's the info he gave me ...
if someone is in immediate harm to them self or others, whether suicidal or homicidal, or if they are unable to care for their own needs, you should contact crisis intervention. it varies from county to county, in lancaster county you would petition for a 302. a 302 is an involuntary psychiatric hospitalization. this will get her into a hospital against her will. it CAN be denied by a representative of the program. the more documentation you have, the better. for example the date she drank bleach. the date she said she wanted to commit suicide, etc.
he said you should also seek out a family counselor to speak with (like in family groups). he said insurance might even pay for it - so to look into that.
i'm really sorry you have to deal with this ... i am sure it is upsetting to all the family around you. good luck!
