One week in and we already have to fix something

DH and I moved into the new house this past weekend so we've been living in it for almost one week now and found our first problem. DH is off from work today and called me at work this morning to tell me the bathroom sink in the basement is leaking like crazy and we'll have to replace it right away. We wanted to get a new sink down there eventually but I didn't think we would be doing it this weekend.

  • Welcome to home ownership!

  • We bought a house and had to have THE FOUNDATION fixed 6 months later. It was horrible. It passed the inspection, but TX has had such a terrible drought the last 2 summers that the ground shifted and BOTH of our next door neighbors also had the same thing happen.

It cost $8k, and I still want to cry when I think about it.

GL with your sink, that's a pain, but hopefully won't be too bad!

And ditto, welcome to the joys of home ownership :)

  • I'm sorry, that can be frustrating.  I hope you can get it fixed quickly.

  • Yay for home ownership! At least you won't have to worry about it for a while after you replace it!
  • That sucks!  Hopefully this is the only issue for a long time.
  • That stinks...hopefully you won't have anything else pop up for a little while.  Have fun shopping for a new sink though!
  • It's always something when you own a home, maybe not a huge or expensive fix, but you're always wanting/needing to do something.  Hopefully once you get the sink replaced you can just concentrate on doing the "fun" stuff for a while - unpacking, decorating, making your house a home :)
  • I hear ya -- we already have to replace all 3 porch posts (support the whole thing) and both carport posts (support the carport).  They apparently didn't take good care of them since they're rotting out (plus this rain isn't helping any!).

enjoy being a happy homeowner! :)

  • That was our first fix, too!  It was found during the inspection "repaired" by the previous owner, then promptly started leaking the week after we moved in.

Ah, the joys of owning a home.  We have a "to do" list that never gets shorter, even though we cross stuff off it!
