Prints?

Who did you use to print out your wedding pics? We had the option of getting prints or a book and we chose the book.

Well we finally got our pics this weekend and I'm wondering who to use or if it even matters??

I usually just use Walmart online and have the pics delivered to my house. I'm fine with their quality, just wondering if anyone has a site they absoultely love! TIA!!!

Re: Prints?

  • I got a few done at CVS and they turned out horrible. The color was completely off and the picture was dark.  I have used Target and others for everyday pictures that turned out pretty well.

However we just got a bunch from a local photo shop and the quality is phenomenol.  The price difference wasn't too much and the pictures are perfect.  The color is just right and everything in the picture is crisp.

I would check out the prices at a local photo shop and see what they can do.  If you do decide to try Walmart online, purchase just a couple to see what the quality is like to make sure you don't waste your money.  GL!

  • I've never used either of these - but they sounded more like a 'professional' type of print than your Target or Wal-Mart:

  • I used Snapfish to print mine and was thrilled with the product! A lot of the quality depends upon the size of the photo but ours were perfect!

I highly recommend Snapfish for prints and I don't know if you are doing and "thank you" presents (parents, etc.) but we did a photo book from Snapfish and it was really great. My Mom takes it everywhere to show it off!

And if you have an order over $25, use the coupon code snapfish321 and you'll get $10 off! Amazing deal! They are also running specials right now for people to use them for the first time.

  • Ooohh, thanks! We are going to do photobooks! I have used Snapfish before and was happy with them, I think that's what I'll do! Thanks again!!
  • I got some from Walgreens and they turned out like crap...

I've heard great things about Mpix.com, though, from other nesties.  It's supposedly a good place with quality products, but I haven't had a chance to order anything, yet, but I am definitely going to try it soon.

  • Whoever you decide to go with, I think choosing matte over glossy prints makes a huge difference in quality.
  • I second the local print shop recommendation.  I had some printed at a private photo lab and the quality is absolutely beautiful.  I've printed with walmart, walgreens and CVS in the past and had mixed results.

I also recommended printing some on metallic paper.  My local shop offered it and it really enhances the colors in the pictures.  I printed a sepia toned picture and it looks cooper and bronze when printed.

  • I've had good luck with Shutterfly and its also who my photog suggested.
  • DH and I met printing pictures for a professional print lab. The difference between that and Walmart is seriously night and day -- people would come with prints from there and ask us for reprints and they were always amazed at the difference in quality from our machines and photo techs to the ones they had. It's a difference you're not likely to see until you compare them. I'd say for something like your wedding pictures go with something other than Walmart or a drug store. Take it to a professional print lab somewhere -- you can find one in the phone book. In Orlando we have Ritz Camera (national chain, also affiliated with Wolf Photo and some other names) and a few locally owned shops that aren't likely to be up your way.

If you truly like the convenience of ordering online I ordered our honeymoon prints from Shutterfly and their quality was much better than anything I've ever gotten at a drug store or quick-print lab like Target or Walmart.

Just a former picture printer's opinion. I hope it helps :)

    That's Mrs.skWhitneyAmanda to you!

  • I used winkflash.com for copies of pics. They turned out really good and I got to pick a matta finish and add a white boarder around the pics. Got a special for $.04 a print for 4x6's

For a book, not sure yet. We used shutterfly for our e-pics & it turned out ok, but I'd like it to be alitle more professional for the wedding pics.

  • I ordered wallets through mpix.com after having them turn out like crap through Snapfish/Wallgreens.  I was really happy with the quality and turn-around time.

I also ordered parent albums through mypublisher.com (which is also where I got my epic and bpic albums).  When you sign up for a new account (just need a new email address if you already have one), you get a coupone for buy one book get one free (which was great for parent albums).  I got two 97 page 8 x 10 albums for $110.   They're really fast, great quality, and have good customer service.

They often run coupons (anywhere from 20-40% off, so when they have one I'm going to order our own album that way too).

HTH! Let me know if you need to see pictures of any of that.
