Teachers: Question about training hours to keep certification
We need 150 training hours every 5 years in order to keep our certification, correct? So that's 30 hours a year. If I have to take GT training hours, with this count towards my 30 hours? Also, if my school sends me to a training will that count? Or is it 30 hours on my own time? Is this something I pay for or do schools normally pay for it? And how do I keep track of how many hours I have (is there a place online, maybe on SBEC)?
When I was hired at my school last year I wasn't told ANYTHING. I wasn't even told that I needed to take 30 GT hours my first year (found that out late in the year and did it over the summer)! So I'm not sure how all of this works.
Thanks!
Re: Teachers: Question about training hours to keep certification
After 5.5 years of loss, heartbreak, and empty arms, our dreams were fulfilled through the beautiful, selfless gift of adoption. We are amazingly blessed!

DH is a teacher and I know that their professional development that they do throughout the year counts towards that (and I think they get enough each year to have the 30 hrs).
Thanks!! So far I've been keeping all my certificates that I've been given from trainings, just in case. My school district is very small so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't keep track of it.
