Central Vac suggestions?
DH and I are debating on whether to get a central vac or an upright. The central vac is already roughed in, but we just have to buy the unit itself. I am kind of leaning towards an upright. DH wants the central vac.
My reasoning is that our corners have always gotten a bit beat up from the central vac hose (something I really don't want to happen in the new house). An upright would be easier for me to use with my bad shoulder (I wouldn't have to lug around the hose and attachments). It'll definitely be cheaper than a central vac and attachments. The house has carpet only upstairs so I was thinking we'd likely just sweep the main floor.
Thoughts? And do any of you have uprights you'd recommend. Our last upright was a Panasonic and I hated it.

I absolutely love our central vac, I find it cleans so much better and it's so much easier to use than dragging an upright around the house. We have a quilted hose cloth protector that you pull over the hose and protects your furniture and baseboards. We've been using our vac for 3 years and have not had one issue with it damaging baseboards or furniture. I can check the model of our central vac and post later, but on this pic, you'll see the quilted hose sock under accessories.

We have central Vac and I love it. We also have the hose cover as well to prevent the baseboard corners and furniture getting beaten up too.
The model we have is from Sears. We've had just over a year, and no problems at all. Like you, we have hardwood on the mainfloor and carpet upstairs. I myself prefer to vaccum than sweep the floors, because you can vaccum the baseboards at the same time rather than getting on your hands and knees to do it by hand!
