Uh wha? Bachelorette party pole dancing?

I got an email from my friend's little sister who is planning a last minute bachelorette party. No biggie. I could get down with it. Except it's next weekend...and it's pole dancing lessons.

Cons for this idea:
a) I'm sxy enough and don't need them, *wink* and thank you very much
b) I'm not a small person and no one needs to see me hanging off a pole
c) It's on my dad's "2nd Birthday" (4th anniversary of his heart transplant)
d) In Philly. Blah.
e) I fall on my face just walking. Swinging on a pole? Way to many options for hurting myself.
f) From the women pictured on the website taking the classes, I would need a gallon of Purell, and a bulk tub of Lysol wipes. And a rubber suit...2 of them. (In case the first one gets a hole from the friction of trying to swing around the pole. Safety first.)

Pros: I got none.

Oh and, reason "G" if we're being totally honest here: I feel little obligation to this friend who was a BM in my wedding because she bailed on my b-party.

And that is my 2 cents for the day.

Re: Uh wha? Bachelorette party pole dancing?

  • Definitely interesting...maybe they were watching reruns of one of the Real Housewives show where they had the pole dancing party as inspiration???
  • Thats an interesting idea for a bachelorette party. Wow, that's really all I can say. I don't know if I would be to into the idea either.
  • Yeah, that would not be my idea of fun either.  Interesting party.

  • Guess I'm the black sheep - I think that it sounds fun!

    he he he...

  • Not as a B-party, but I'd love to take the stripper classes for exercise. Seriously, that stuff is so much fun. We did some of sexy moves in shows and had a blast. Its a great way to firm and and lose those extras. Plus I'm sure the new moves wouldn't upset you SO/Dh eitherStick out tongue

  • Classy!

Although, as RaeAnt mentioned, I've heard it's good workout...haha!

  • Haha, yikes. I would be so uncomfortable unless I knew EVERYONE at the party very well. Otherwise, not for me :)

    That's funny, thanks for sharing!

It seems fun and very different than the drunken or half-naked male strip club b-parties.  If you don't want to go, just say you already have plans.

  • Under other circumstances I wouldn't mind doing it, but the other women invited are the ones that were "too cool" to actually talk to me at my friend's shower this past weekend. I've met them multiple times yet they said they didn't remember me because they were too drunk. Nice.

    The place looked skanky to.

I ran the idea by DH and he laughed! He said he prefers to cut to the chase. No dancing needed. Ha-ha! He's bad. Hubba-hubba and bow-chica wow-wow.

I think my dad's 4th anniversary (2nd birthday) is way more important anyway.

I think it sounds fun too provided it was a small group of close friends.

  • I agree, the idea could be fun, but only with a group of people that I was close with and would have fun with.  A shower for someone else (especially the people you described) does not sound like fun to me.

    I'd so do this! ?

but also, not this time, for all the reasons you mentioned millers. of course I'm hard-pressed to travel to philly for anything but really good food...I'm a homebody.

  • I would have to drink way too much in order for that to be fun for me.... I wonder does the bachelorette know about this and would she think that it is fun??
  • I agree with the one PP about the idea being better than a male strip club ::shudders::

It sounds like it could be a fun time, I would definitely want to know the other girls, so I wouldn't feel weird.

On such short notice, and with already having plans, I would say you could decline the invitation...although it would have made for an interesting follow-up post!
