frustrated...

I spent all day Friday and a good portion of Sunday cleaning and organizing the kitchen. ?I am trying to get the house spotless before next Monday. ?I will be having my surgery then and I don't want to come home to a mess. ?It doesn't look like I have done a thing. I am never going to get this done...

Re: frustrated...

  • Ugh!  I'm sorry.  I know that stressed out feeling and it sucks that you have such a deadline to look forward to!  Could DH help out a bit with some things to give you a bit of a hand or a break?
  • he does some stuff but it's not quite enough.

  • I have two methods.

One involves picking a room and just focusing there, stuff I found that belongs in other rooms just goes in a box.

OR, put everything in a box (obvious garbage in bags, recycling in the bin) so the house looks clean and then start going through the boxes about 15-20 minutes at a time.  This takes a bit more work but I can sit with my box in front of the tv and then run around during commercials putting stuff away.  The extra work is a) making sure you go through the boxes, it is tempting to just store them and b) you essentially go through things twice.  However, I gain instant gratification of seeing my house clean and find I purge a little better.

I've never tried a third method, it's hiring a house cleaner to take care of it for me.  I've been tempted, but not gone there yet :)

  • I know that feeling. Just pace yourself, get done what you can, and try not to worry too much about it. Don't be too hard on yourself, if it doesn't get done, it doesn't get done...if all else fails, hire someone to come in and do it for you! lol
  • I've been feeling the same way since we moved into the house in May!! Every time I think I've gotten something done, it just seems like there is either more to do or it doesn't look like I've done anything!! It is frustrating, but I try and just take one thing at a time. It helps keep me from getting too overwhelmed. I'm sure it'll be fine, and you'll get it all done! GL!!
