tell me about your most memorable vacation
where did you go, where did you stay, what did you do, etc.
Re: tell me about your most memorable vacation
Honestly, we SO enjoyed our HM. (kinda cliche' I know) but we took two weeks to completely decompress and just relax. Like, litterally we did nothing else but relax.
Which was soooo nice.
We went to PV (Puerto Vallarta) Stayed at Dreams Resort (all inclusive). It was so nice to just throw our wallet in the safe and just enjoy. Also- contrary to usual AI belief the food was wonderful and so was the booze.
The beach was amazing. Clear beautiful water and warm. It was the only hotel on a huge cove so we felt like we were alone on the beach. We had our own cabana guy/bar tender. Our glasses were never empty.
We had massages, did tons of water activites, the our room was REALLY nice. They really spoiled the heck out of us and we loved every minute of it. But we were not in a mood to sight see too much or do any crazy night life at all.
I mean there much nicer places than PV as far as tropical destinations go- but we just had a GREAT experience here.
(and it was affordable!)
duh, you were too tired from getting busy.
Jamaica by far. We stayed at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios. We stayed up on the plantation and had a pool on our deck and a 1 bedroom suite. (We got upgraded for no reason from a basic room)
We drank alot and enjoyed eachother. We are hoping to go back for our 5 year next year. I can't believe it's been 5 years already.
Domestic: NOLA. We had such a good time eating & sightseeing. We also went with some family and friends, but the balance of time together and time alone worked out beautifully.
International: Italy, specifically Rome, Florence, Venice & the Cinque Terre. We did a lot of sightseeing, but we also spent a lot of time just wandering around and soaking in the scene.
A few nights in Miami at The Standard, then cruise to Bahamas/Key West. I liked it because it was like a few different vacations all in one.
Playa del Carmen, Mex. We stayed at a tiny hotel right on the beach, spent all day laying out and eating guac and drinking beer. Did a lot of cool snorkling in caves and stuff. My whole family was there (for my cousin's wedding) so it was really fun.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
The Galapagos Islands in 2004.
Stayed on this.
Did all of this.
true dat. lol.
I would LOVE to do that trip. So cool!
Mine's a bit of a toss up because they are memorable for very different reasons so I'd have to say it's between my trip to Iran and our honeymoon to Fiji.
My mom took my sisters and I to the motherland for the first time when I was 18 and it really helped me understand my heritage and family a lot more which was huge for an 18 yr old just starting out in college trying to figure out her identity.
Honeymoon in Fiji for obvious reasons...
If we're talking domestic - I'd say Seattle or NYC. I just earned a free ticket with Delta so I'm hoping to give NOLA a try early 2010.
I am thinking about going anywhere that I can talk mH into (we were thinking Costa Rica) but I think we may be buying a home soon, so it's looking less and less likely.
I do love hearing about vacations though
I had SUCH a great time in South Beach in 2004. We went to the beach, to a bunch of restaurants, a few clubs. This was back when I was feeling good about myself and I had just landed a job so I felt like the world was my oyster. Good times.
I also really loved our simple trip to Avila Beach. Just biked, jacuzzi'd, spa'd, a few restaurants.
Scottsdale trip with my bridesmen was fanto. Pool all day and bars/clubs at night. Just eating and drinking all weekend long.
I guess I haven't been many places.
ah, gotcha.
international (fun/relaxing): australia. love love love. and I swear if you are an ugly man, you are banned from the country.
international (culture): vietnam. one of my favorite places on our trip.
domestically: how sad, I can't really tell you! I think you'd like lithuania, and you'd have a free place to stay.
beach-y: aruba
asian-y: hong kong--ate a LOT, shopped a LOT for cheaper than in other the parts of east asia i've been to.
international yet easy/like home: australia
in-state: napa, because we ate amazing food and stayed in a high-end resort.
domestic out-of-state: new york city
Last summer we spent 3 weeks in the Algarve. We danced, drank, enjoyed the beach, and explored all things Portuguese. We look forward to going back soon.
Domestically, I really enjoyed the two weeks we stayed in Kauai. It was so relaxing.
