Seriously? Is your job *that* hard?!

It drives me crazy that our reception team can't take a proper phone message. Part of their responsibility is to ensure that the first and last names on all messages are spelled correctly so we, as assessors, aren't searching high and low for a file. They are *supposed* to ask every caller how to spell their name(s)...and they never do. Usually, we are able to figure out who the person is, but when we can't, and take the message back to them, they claim that they *did* ask for proper spelling! AS IF! I just got 3 of these in a row...so irritating.

  • ugh irritating is right!

When I was reception about 5 years ago ? I asked someone to spell their name (Stewart Jones)

Well he got angry with me and asked don?t you know how to spell Jones??

I replied ?well considering that we have 3 Jones? in the office and two are actually with J.O.N.E.Z??I thought I?d ask"

    LOL

Yeah, he then complained about my attitude Stick out tongue

  • My pet peeve is even if your job is *that* hard - it's part of your job description.  So it shouldn't be a surprise that someone wants you to do it correctly.
  • I had an assistant once who would tell me "someone called for you". If i asked her who it was she would say she didn't know they didn't give their name. Ya, because you didn't ask!

lol I had a secretary who used to do that all the time. Once she got all defensive and said, "They said you'd know who it was". Wha?!
