I've been on the hunt for new bras. I tried VS when they had their semi-annual sale, only to mention to the clerk that the cups were kind of cutting into my breasts (not uncomfortable or severe, but would make for an awkward line at times under thinner materials.) I was told "It's not that bad...I think that's just how it is." Um... no. That's not how it just is. That's a sign of a bad fit!
Left there unhappy.
Tried Fredericks. Found one bra I LOVED... but it's a full figure one and they don't make full figured bras in anything under a plus-size D. Great... so you're telling me my boobs aren't BIG ENOUGH? Really?? Because they're significantly large enough to cause a hassle. I ended up getting two reversible bras that seemed so-so (I really was in dire need of new ones!)
Left feeling like the world is an unjust place.. you can get a nearly A, A, A/B, nearly B, B, B/C, nearly C, C, but after that you'd better just fit in the cups they give you.
I even commented to the clerk that it sucks that "full figured" is defined at a large D and wondered what the heck C/D girls are supposed to do.
I'd avoided places like Kohls, Macys, JCPenneys, because I could never actually get assistance, variety, or sizes that I needed. All the bras I'd tried on from these places were the same: tiny cups that didn't work with larger sizes, stiff uncomfortable materials, or seriously granny bras for larger sizes.
I don't know what pushed me to check out Kohls this past weekend when we were there. But I did. And found several Vanity Fair styles I REALLY like. The material feels nice and they offered several almost-normal looking full-figured bras. Starting at C cups. Of course, they're no La Perla, but I even got one style with lace wings and gore! Yes, they're full-coverage, so there's no super-plunge necklines coming in my future. LOL But they FEEL great and MH said he can tell the difference in my demeanor when I'm wearing them versus my old bras.
So here's to you, Vanity Fair... for looking out for those of us who don't want to wear stiff cotton, non-underwire bras like our mothers and grandmothers wear.
Re: A vent, by Paula.
I shop at JCPenneys for bras too now. I LOVE ambrielle. I've actually replaced all of my VS bras with ambrielle.
Paula: I don't know about your Penneys but at mine, they have a full figured section of the ambrielles and they come in all the cute styles that the bras for the smaller chested women come in.

Kristin, I don't even want to think about that. LOL
Seriously, the biggest complaint I have is that most C cups fit like they're just big As or Bs - they give no consideration to the fact that some C cups are not just larger As or Bs and need support. Like Ds.
For $19/each on sale right now, I cannot wait to go check out some of those Ambrielle balconette ones. I loved when VS had them, but they've since discontinued a lot of them. And lace? PRETTY LACE? Multi-colored lace, even? Unheard of. LOL
I just got a JCP email if anyone needs it. LOL
