I was wondering if you ladies could help me out by answering a few questions for me.
If you had a Wedding Coordinator or Planner, did you feel their services were helpful and worth the money you paid? What did you wish they would or would not have done?
If you didn't have a Wedding Coordinator or Planner, do you wish you would have paid money for one? If so, why?
Thanks ladies, any input would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Wedding Input
We had a DOC team. Hired them about 3 weeks before the wedding. I had planned everything and it was going to be so hard to put the plan in action without hired help.
They were worth every penny. Mine personally went above and beyond the call of duty. Plus, they had 4 people on hand that day (2 with us and 2 at the reception venue-then all at the reception venue during the reception).
I did not have a planner and am glad I didn't. I am a very organized person so I had fun working on the wedding.
In hindsight, a DOC might have been good only because of our caterer. They forgot two cakes and ran out of food so the DOC could have hopefully figured out the cake situation and noticed the food details so getting our money back would be easier.
TTC #1 since 08/11 IUI#2 = BFP!
This. I can't imagine having someone else plan my wedding, that would stress me out! We did have a DOC who was really helpful. Other than making sure everyone was in the right place at the right time, I'm not sure what they did--but I think that's kind of the point. I was able to do my own thing without worrying about anyone/anything else.
The DOC was included in our package at the chapel--if they wouldn't have been included, I don't think I would have paid for one, I'm not sure.
I didn't have one and didn't really want one. Honestly, it seems like a silly waste of money to me. I wasn't worried about having a perfect fairy tale event - I just wanted it to be fun and memorable. I didn't care if things went a little wrong. Yes, one of my flower girls knocked over a glass candleabra and ran to her mom crying that "now the mean pastor wasn't going to let Nate and Jill get married!" But little things like that made the day memorable. I wouldn't have wanted things like that prevented so that it was "perfect." That's boring. Yes, my mom got into a fight with the bartender because they tried to tell us they were out of Miller Lite when we had an unlimited alcohol package, but again, I'm glad she did it rather than a coordinator, because this way's funnier.
I did have one close friend who wasn't in the bridal party who sort of played the role of coordinator as far as keeping us running on time for everything, but I couldn't have paid someone to do that anyway - she was staying at the hotel with us and made sure we got to the rehersal on time, and to hair appointments on time, to the church on time, etc.
We had a DOC and she was well worth it. She was with us the week of the wedding to help us get ready and decorate the reception hall. Her daughter even had her first grandchild and she was still there that night.I felt alot less stress when she was around. The florist made a mess the morning of the wedding bringing in the flowers and she vacummed the church before anyone got there. She called us the night of the wedding after we left reception and DH told her that our rehearsal was one of the smoothest he had participated in. She was alot of help and I am glad we had a DOC instead of a planner. I cant say that there would be anything else that I would have wanted her to do, she was great and as far as doing stuff I think she did everything that was expected... She did keep looking at her watch when we were taking pictures before the ceremony and telling us what time it was but I guess I could understand. I was suppose to take pics at 4 and photog got there late lol so I was running late taking pictures but other than I think it was a great day due to her presence and everyone knowing exactly what to do
If you just hire a DOC they don't plan things. They put your plan into action.
