Gift Ideas for Resource Teacher of Troubled Teens
Hi ladies,
I have a co-worker who just accepted a teaching job for the 2009-2010 school year. He will be teaching troubled teens with learning disabilities.
I'd like to get him a small gift to take with him to his new job and maybe something useful as well.
Any ideas??

Something useful would be snacks for his classroom. ?We keep a lot on hand in our department 1) as a small treat for the kids when they do well and 2) if they don't have breakfast or money for lunch.
We have all sorts of stuff like chips, PB crackers, beef jerky, granola and cereal bars, and bottles of water. ?That's another idea other than office supplies (which that's a good one, too). ?Even buying some basic stuff like pencils, pens, erasers, and dry erase markers for his room would be useful and appreciated.
I teach "troubled teens with learning disabilities" and honestly, gift cards to office supply/teacher supply stores are what I really use/need. My kids do not have access to all the regular classroom resources, and I usually have to teach 4-10 lessons a day... not 1-2 per day like teachers who teach 1 dedicated subject.
