Boring oil change poll (OG style poll)

1. How much did you pay for your last oil change?

2.  What type of car do you drive?

 3.  Where did you get your oil change?

I think I paid around $40!  I drive an Acura TSX and I had it done at a mom and pop shop.  I think I got ripped off.  I'm a bimbo when it comes to car maintenance.

Re: Boring oil change poll (OG style poll)

  • you didn't get completely ripped off.  I usually pay between 35-40 when all is said and done.  I think they charge an additional $7 for disposal fees, and most places will charge more to top of fluids, rotate tires, etc.

I usually go to jiffy lube - sometimes they'll have coupons or specials for $27/28. but then it ends up being $35-ish with tax and fees.  they irritatetheshit out of me though because they're always trying to upsell.

  • 1. How much did you pay for your last oil change? $70

    2.  What type of car do you drive? Lexus  SUV

     3.  Where did you get your oil change? Tustin dealer.

I know its a lot but my husband really only wants to get changes at dealers and I don't think its worth talking him into going else where. Our compromise is going to Tustin since the Newport dealer charges $95 for the same thing.

  • My husband changes my oil for me. I pay ZERO. Big Smile

  • my oil changes for my last three cars have been free at the dealer.

that being said, you didn't get ripped off.  the hub takes his to jiffy lube-type places and $40 is actually cheap.

  • I recently bought a new car and have a maintenance package.

However, $40 seems about right. If you are concerned, try to find a garage that is AAA certified. They usually offer AAA discounts and are much less likely to be shady with upsells and suggesting unnecessary repairs. I used Freek's Garage in Fullerton and always had a great experience.

  • 1. $20.
    2. 2000 Ford Expedition (less than 4k in miles a year)
    3. Laugh - Walmart.

I do insurance for auto dealers/service centers/quick lubes/gas stations/etc. Maybe it's just my line of work... but seriously, I've had two different clients eff up my oil changes. I decided for the basics it's easier to not mix clients + my car. I've never had a problem at Walmart, they've always done a fabulous job, and the few times I've needed more than the regular service (ie. fuse blew out of one of my blinkers), they did it at no charge.

  • 1.  $12 for materials (oil was on sale) because hubs did it.  the one before that, $22ish.
    2.  the above were for a toyota camry.
    3.  EZ-lube.  dirty-sounding, but they have coupons you can print online.  i used to use them every time.

  • $29.99 Toyota Sequoia Shell Gas Station, and they give you a free carwash with it.
  • I have a 2008 VW Jetta.  First time we took it to the dealership so they could show DH a few things.  That cost just over $100.  When H changes the oil it costs around $50 for oil and filter.  If I bring it into my work labor's about $10.
