Teachers: Contract question
I currently work in a school district and renewed my contract in April. I was told by another teacher that I have 45 days before the start of school to get out of my contract. That day has come and gone. I just got a voicemail from another school district wanting to do an interview on Monday or Tuesday with me. What would happen if I did the interview and got the job? Would I technically be breaking my contract since school hasn't started? I really don't want to ask HR... I don't want them thinking I'm leaving...

I think you'll have to request to be released from your contract since you're past the 45 days. But I wouldn't do that until you have a signed contract from the new school.
blah I don't know if that's even worth it (assuming i got the new job). what if they deny me? then my school year will probably suck..
last time arlington called me for an interview, I was going on maternity leave... can't they call when I can actually take a job? sheesh
It is possible for you to get out of your contract per your request. However, districts can legally require you to fulfill your contract until they find a suitable replacement for the position which you would leave.
