Day trip ideas

My friend and I want to do something fun next week - L will be with us - and we're having a hard time thinking of something that's not too far and cheap. We were thinking someting like the Aquarium of the Pacific but it's a little pricey. Ideas please!

Re: Day trip ideas

  • What about the beach?  We bring Sarah and the dogs to the dog beach in Huntington.  We've also done the Beach Train a couple of times which is fun.  I'll see if I can think of more...
    Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers
  • I second the beach.  It will be a lot cooler there than it is here.
  • Have you been to the Huntington Library and Gardens?  So pretty and a nice place to have lunch.  Link: http://www.huntington.org/.
  • C would want to pick all those flowers out. hee hee
  • Id you look online and get your tickets online for the aquarium they are sometimes cheaper...That is what MH and i did the last time.  I think $5 off or something, but i don't know if it is still to expensive for you...????
  • How about Griffith park? Lots of stuff to do there. You could do the zoo, travel town or just wander the trails.
  • I know this sounds lame but my friend and I wanted to do something together and we ended up settling on going to the Orange County Swap Meet.
  • have you heard of the daytripping mom blog? It's all about daytrips in socal. I don't have access to my google reader at work but I will give you the link when I get home. She also has a section about free things to do.

I would love the link to this too, we're pretty bored most days, and I swear the baby gets cabin fever.

  • There is always Riley's Farms up in oak glen. It will probably be pretty nice up there- and you can pick fruits, sit back and have some apple pie. or tour the farm... it is usually pretty cheap for the day too I think.

Right now they have raspberry picking (yum!) and strawberry picking available. Next week they have wildflower picking as well, and the week after they'll have peaches and pears. Then you can sit down at their cafe and have lunch.

    Here is their website: http://www.rileysfarm.com/

Don't worry about tomorrow. After all, today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. Take each day as it comes...one at a time. Midnight Baking Adventures Blog
  • All awesome ideas, thanks!

I've been wanting to check out the Huntington Library so maybe that. I'm actually gonna go to the Aquarium with my brother and nephews next week :)

    That blog looks great!

  • Am I late on answering? I know Balboa Park in San Diego is pretty fun, and it's right next to the Zoo. There's also the Birch Aquarium thing in La Jolla. MH lilked that one better than the AotP. And that's pretty big coming from the saltwater fishtank owner.
