Just saw your post about a B-day Gift for 1 yr old. I agree with asking the parents if there is anything they need but If you are still looking - I love giving this as a 1st B-day gift so they can use it for their B-day every year. I gave my nephew one (not this exact one obviously! ) and he has his B-day pancakes on it every year on his B-day 
- He's just about to turn 4! You can order them on-line and there are several versions for both Boys and girls.
