local vacation suggestions

hi ladies, my coworker, her husband and 6-yr-old son are looking to get away for 2-3 nights somewhere within a 3-hour drive from gettysburg. any kid-friendly suggestions? thanks!

Re: local vacation suggestions

  • I don't know how popular an indoor water park is this time of year - but maybe GreatWolf lodge in the Poconos?  Or the Poconos in general?  Lots of outdoorsey stuff, and a waterpark at Camelback.
  • Baltimore?  We've got tons of museums, the zoo, the aquarium, etc.  My 9 y/o brother is chomping at the bit to come visit DH and I in the city now that my parents have explained what all there is for him to do here.

One of the state parks could be fun (I think you can rent cabins... my family owns a cabin on state lands, and I'm pretty sure I've heard talk before that it's possible to rent some of them around us).  Allentown area has the water park/amusement park and is close to Philly, so you could always do something there too.  I'd also consider the Poconos - lots of hotels/resorts up that way.

  • Some place in Hershey, Lancaster, Harrisburg, York..... not sure about specifics. Hershey and Lancaster have amusements parks, York and Lancaster have local baseball teams and various factory or farm  tours
